What are your favourite Pokemon ROMHacks?

I never play them, but the idea of playing a GBA game that's been fiddled with for the sake of fun instead of difficulty or something autistic sounds great.

Most romhacks full ev/iv teams and are designed by people who abuse cheese. No fun allowed.

Karenfagging has always been the way. And there's a nice middle ground between gym leaders not having 4 moves on their pokemon and full on smogon nonsense. ESPECIALLY in difficulty hacks where they specifically patch out any strategy that gives you an advantage, like Radical Red introducing full healing before boss battles because a strat got popular of bringing in pre-poisoned pokemon for facade shenanigans. You cannot defend that level of faggotry

Most of the good romhacks aren't really like that though. The ones that do do it are usually billed as "difficulty hacks". There's a lot of dogshit out there but the good romhacks are better than anything Gamefreak did

I tried playing one called crystal world a long time ago but I got distracted by some other release, I might try playing that again.

What fight did give you trouble because you couldn't access a pokemon that was further down the game?

im playing an randomized emerald nuzlocke which isn't very difficult but it is pretty fun

Every single Dreyano game. They're good QOL games and give a bit of challenge but you can pretty easily beat the game with only your favorite shitmons.

Oh I dropped the game as soon as I saw tranny shit. I just heard retroactively about them removing pokemon because they saw someone break their epic little challenge and shat themselves in rage, and I think that's the gayest shit imaginable. But to be fair, I also have that issue with a lot of games in general. God forbid something just be good, the endless chase for some weird arbitrary perfect balance is a fools errand and is needlessly restrictive. If something is unintentionally good, then just let it be good, if your challenge is so fucking unreasonable that people are en masse flocking to one specific strategy to get past it, then I think your challenge is shit. Seems to me that it's weird power trippy shit about how the game is "SUPPOSED TO BE PLAYED!" as opposed to just letting people have fun. I wanna say it was early Gyarados or Electrike or some nonsense

I never played it until it was actually finished (version 19.17? it's been years now) so I don't know if they changed the spawns of pokemon for the reason you mention as they kept developing, but I never felt like I was limited for options. As it is right now I think the game itself is great if you ignore the story. Fair enough if that's enough to put you off.

I could never really get into this or Rejuvenation. I enjoy a good challenge like in Radical Red or Platinum, but these games just go too far for me. Having to completely rebuild your team for every boss fight, grind for perfect IVs and EVs, and look up meta strategies just drains all the fun out of pokemon for me. Also, Reborn’s story is so edgy you can cut yourself just by looking at it

Nta but reborn doesn't make you do any of this stuff. The game's difficulty curve is honestly almost perfect. There's absolutely no kaizo bullshit and the battles remain challenging but entirely fair up until the league champion (FUCK that field effect). The only downside of reborn is that it ruined Pokemon for me - I can't enjoy any of the other games because they're all trash in comparison

Do they give you the info on the field before the E4? If you have a weather team you'll most likely get fucked in the ass. I think some of the post game fights like the Radomus/Gardevoir or the Mewtwo/Mew 6v12s were kind of bullshit territory but then again they're post game content.

Any rom hack that gives perfect IVs and EVs to everyone instaid of just gym leaders and the E4 are trash
