Vidya creepypasta/urban legend thread? I'm looking for a very specific one that I read on here years ago. It was about how this one JRPG was originally gong to be a lot darker/mature and how there are some clues to what may have been originally included. There's a scene where a villain throws herself off a building after being defeated but then another character adds that the villain was just a robot, but the only indication it was a robot was the character saying she was. The only other thing I remember is someone mentioning a screenshot from a magazine that wasn't in the final game of a character saying something among the lines of "How could you do that? They were only children". If anyone knows what I'm talking about I'll shit myself

I don't have what you're looking for but I swear to fuck I got mandela effected or some shit. Was playing morrowind as a kid and slew an orc female in Suran because she had glass armor that I wanted. Got the "thread of prophecy" message saying the story was messed up but was just playing it as a sandbox back then so couldn't care less. Replayed the game as an adult and that character doesn't exist apparently. Searched all over Suran and combed through the wiki but nada.

I'm surprised that missingno never comes up in these threads. That was some legitimately spooky shit that effected everyone differently. It was a pokemon you could only get by jumping through a series of hoops but after you got it it started doing some really weird shit and your game got weirder and weirder until it became unplayable. Sprite swaps, removing barriers and changing text.

- Herobrine (Minecraft ghost brother nonsense, still freaks kids out)
- Lavender Town Syndrome (Pokémon music theory that caused kids to off themselves)
- Polybius (the mythical arcade game that causes seizures and possible government mind control)
- Petscop (weird unfinished-looking PS1 game walkthrough series on YT, way more psychological than most)
- NES Godzilla Creepypasta (incredibly detailed, features horrifying sprite bosses and corrupted mechanics)
- Buried Cartridge (ET Atari game being cursed or tied to the Alamogordo landfill burial story)
- Kill Switch (fictional Eastern European PC game that deletes itself after one playthrough)
- Sad Satan (game found via Deep Web, full of disturbing imagery and sound)

Bonus: "The Theater" - super low-res game nobody can confirm if it ever existed, player is stuck in a surreal loop inside a theater.

There's a few hidden gems too, like the "EarthBound Predictions" pasta and the "Mario 128 build" where Mario eventually becomes self-aware.
