I played this game years ago, and without UE5 dogshit layered on top.

MGSV definitely killed the series for me, I showed up for this but honestly it's not exciting at all, I've played MGS3 a million times already and this didn't feel any different.

Why should I play this one over the subsistance version?

The Master Collection version was already accused of being overpriced and it's at $20. This is just a graphical upgrade of a game that already aged very well visually for nearly four times the price from a company that very loudly ousted the series creator with no reason to trust that they will, or are even capable of, continuing the franchise. Metal Gear is dead, and slapping some makeup on it isn't gonna bring it back.

I got the game running on my machine but to be honest I prefer the original. I don't like how grainy UE5 always looks and it's blurry - I can use reshade to add sharpness but then that'll increase the graininess when image is moving etc.
It doesn't feel like a game, it feels like an abomination. I'd rather watch a MGS3 film with c-tier actors and that would be over in about 2 hours.

Video games are the biggest entertainment industry, the average age of gamers is higher than before(therefore disposable income is higher on average), game budgets are higher so they charge more.
It's amazing games have stayed so cheap compared to their massive budget increases.
Games "should" be $100 if they stayed consistent with inflation, but most games still sell that the 59.99 price point.
Some bigger recent games are increasing in cost


Obviously I'd prefer cheaper games, but that's not reality.

If you want better graphics and slightly updated gameplay (assuming you use the new gameplay mode). It's really good if you can run it on PC or have it on PS5 but you can play the older one if you want. Personally I really liked what they did despite not planning on buying it. My girlfriend bought it for me as a surprise and I've really enjoyed it.

Kojima gear design is only made to look real, half of the time it isn't. You could rationalize the sleeves as some thermal shirt to wick away moisture, a wetsuit to stay warm in a wet environment, or even sneaking suit sleeves, though sneaking suit and BDU never seem to give joint bonuses.
