I have a 7900 XTX running 1440p native and when Abyssal portals open the game decides to run at 45fps stuttering every fucking time and I even did the audio fix. Act 4 is cool but the prison wave shit is just unnecessary RP design. I feel like there's a constant conflicting design philosophy in PoE2. For example, sprinting was added and it's pretty much known as a bandaid fix. However, in a game that tries desperately to slow everything down and make everything have immersive animations (animation locks on abilities, especially for melee), they for some reason decided to make sprinting the absolute most nonsense shit ever. You're full sprinting, a tiny ant tickles you for negative damage, you fall over for ten years. You're full sprinting, you hit terrain, for some reason it's only a light stagger??? You're full sprinting, you decide to stop, yet your character is so uncoordinated that he nearly falls over trying to stop himself??? There's weird designs made for the sake of balancing the gameplay experience yet they directly conflict with the immersive qualities they're trying to subject everyone to. They desperately want to slow everything down and make it methodical and yet they not only impose limitations that make no sense, but they'll also give enemies ways to basically make up their own rules.

Played on the release of the early access, got hardstuck in act 2 like 4 different times because I don't play ARPGs. Game was pretty and fun too, but I would have had more fun if I was better at these games

Starting playing again last night and levelling way faster and doing way better in Act 1 and Act 2 than I did on release. Might be because stuff was buffed or maybe I just got lucky with a crossbow drop early in Act 1 that actually does damage. Hopefully I can make it through the ascendancy this time and get to Act 3

For some reason GGG is completely incapable of understanding how much of an advantage range is inherently. Melee needs to be incredibly strong from a baseline perspective to account for how much better it is to be at a distance by default, but you can literally listen to Jon being incapable of comprehending this in earlier interviews where he points out that ranged is actually also bad because sometimes things are easier to dodge at melee range. the man somehow just didn't think of walking into melee as a ranged character and doesn't realize melee can't just walk out to range.

Play Diablo 2, follow a build guide for a decent build, and try to at least get to NG+, because then the "real" arpg experience starts from there.

Then if you truely enjoy the taste of ARPG character building and loot grinding you *could* go straight into PoE1 or PoE2 But you will need to do a lot of wiki reading or youtube tutorials to know what the fuck is going on.

Honestly Diablo 3 wouldn't be a bad choice either, its a pretty solid arpg if you can handle the shit art style. Just avoid D4 like the plague, it's aids.

Maybe its because I played diablo 2 as an adventure game but I had heaps of fun playing summoner necro. My favorite part was the desert tomb area where the rooms were just chock full of skeletons and I'd stand at the doorway cursing everything while my boners slowly mopped up everything for me.
Duriel was fun too. The first time I ran into him I was absolutely perplexed until I realised my frost mages could slow him down so much and it became a cakewalk.

POE has character customization. You pay for it in their MTX store. That's how you see players running around exuding auras or sparkles or have a tentacle monster pet, or whatever

I'm level 60 now, everything dies pretty easily. Do you think I missed anything in my attempt to Rolling Slam everything? It just feels better to do than to try to mix abilities in. Sometimes I'll do Earthquake and Fissure setups on bosses while they're invincible, but that's about it. Everything else is just Rolling Slam. Well it was a half truth. They gave my class invoker a new easier way to generate power charges for my charged staff and that was an improvement, but they clearly lowered the damage output of all the quarterstaff skills because now you can easily gen p charges instead of having to wear uniques and use resonance like before. So technically I do more damage, but I have to now roll into damage twice to get 3 p charges then convert it into charged staff ticks, then roll again to get another 3 p charges to hold onto so my charged staff buff doesn't drop off. It is fundamentally uninteresting. Jonatroon needs to back off on these combo gameplay mechanics. I dont want to manage a mechanic every 15 seconds. I wanna veg out and kill mobs by holding right click.

POE2 is a trashfire of bad ideas.

People don't want to spam more buttons, and they definately don't want a dark souls fucking dodge roll, they also don't want a twin stick shooter, they want a modern take on Diablo 2.

POE2 is trying too hard to be something POE wasn't, forcing people to use other abilities instead of just left click move right click cast, and occasionally using a movement ability to avoid a boss mechanic, but this shit is closer to Diablo 3/4 than POE1 and thats not a good thing.

Remove dodge roll, remove cast while moving, or if you can't remove the twinstick shooter dogshit design, remove the weird movement slowdown.

This game is made for chink phone cucks and I hate it, and I am sure this is why Christ Wilson jumped ship when he could.

Pretty much every zone leading up to the last couple areas are great. Then you get to the second last area and realize "Hey, this is just the Dig from PoE1". Then you fight the boss and realize "Hey, this is just Sirus, but with worse game design".

Then you get to the final area, where every single mob inflicts bleeding and corrupted blood on every single hit because fuck melee in particular. Then you reach the boss and realize "Hey, this just Kaom from PoE1 but with worse game design" then he starts his second phase and you realize "Hey, this just King Kaom from PoE1, but with worse game design".
