>original Deus Ex looks mostly grounded with high-tech future stuff mostly being a façade or in places built specifically for it
>prequel set like 20 years earlier is just techmaxed to the point of retardation
>two years away and reality looks nothing like it
Subtlety has value both aesthetically and in its predictive power.

Is the Director's Cut worth playing with the worse performance and graphics for the changes it makes? How's the mod that tries to improve the lighting and add the gold filter back?
Or should I replay the original? I never bought the DLC for the original version before they took it off sale sadly

to be fair 2027 is the peak in the deus ex universe. the 2030's and 40's so many people die from disease and wars and other bullshit that it reduced the global population by the 2050's by a lot.

Hope you are happy.

>prequel at least tries to look like it's some kind of future setting even if the changes in design and trends had to have started before the year the game was being made to have that great an impact on the way the world looks

How does changing the light bulb ruin the landscape?
>star gazing
I don't remember it being much better before LED street light were commonplace. In either case, I have an allotment, so I can stargaze there if I want.
>animal cycles
Our pigeons, sparrows, and crows seem to be doing just fine.
To add to this, it doesn't matter what color your street lights are when there is a greenhouse complex in the industrial zone. Pic related.

Even if I was outside at 3AM for some reason, I'd want the lights to be white because that would keep me awake. They also help late night drivers stay awake, which is very important.

The best thing about old halogen lights is that they diffuse better. They aren't as bright, but their light actually spreads out better. There are less completely dark spots, for the tradeoff everywhere is a bit darker overall.
This makes things safer, and more aesthetic.

Don't think for a moment that corporations today wouldn't do it if they had the technology to do so, or that people wouldn't be lining up to have it done to them.

i've been replaying mankind divided for the first time in 5 years and the whole thing makes no damn sense. every single place is divided between augs and naturals, there's 3 cops on every single street, every NPC, advertisement and news broadcast is about augs, literally every single email is about somebody's aug relative getting picked on... it feels like half the planet is augmented. how could that be if augs were unfathomably expensive? i thought maybe it was some big trend or status symbol so a lot of people took out loans to get them without a good reason or something. maybe there's a lot of amputees or disabled. but then i talked to the samizdat guy and he said there's not even 8 million augmented in the world, and it was down like 80% since the incident, so there were only like 15 million, worldwide, at the peak. that's what's tearing the entire fucking world apart? really? i know the jews ingame are deliberately agitating the situation but it's fucking 0.001% of the population. it's like fallout 4 where EVERYTHING is about synths synths synths when hunger, disease, raiders and mutants are all 1000 times more dangerous and numerous
