Has anyone seen any negative consequences of using the tadpole powers, because it seemingly effects nothing. There's tons of act 1 dialogue options about how it seems like a trap, that we can't trust it, and so on, but again nothing seems to happen. No new dialogue options, no characters leaving the party if you use them, nobody even comments on your appearance if you take the giga tadpole. For such a central part of the narrative, it feels surprisingly shallow.
