Games are dead
And just like that 'gaems' are dead. PS2 or 360 would get fully fledged games all the time. Now these games are being cancelled left and right, or they come out and they flop. PS5's software sales are anemic.
The kids are playing Roblox and other free games rather than buying consoles so the average "gamer" is north of 30. Old gamers age out of the hobby, and kids have to replace them. But if no children replace them, then the entire system is unsustainble.
And many of thsoe adults are mono-gamers - they just play Counter Strike, or other games forever and nothing else.
The "social media-ification" of gaming is beginning. The future is slop, quickly produced, none of it with too high a budget, and quantity rather than quality. We will get to a point where making a game with the kind of polish of a PS2 game is functionally impossible. It already happened to TV and Films.
