Balancing was out the ass. They tried to imitate counter strike but the weapon system was the biggest flaw as it was literally rich get richer because you just need to get enough kills for the mx5 (m4/ak), aa12, lmg, or the AWP with zero downsides for equipping them. Yoy die once? Just respawn with the weapon since it doesntcost anything

it's neat. not my favorite and I suck at it, but there's nothing quite like turning on motion vision and seeing invisible dudes pop up in your vision the second they move, or smoking an area and lighting dudes up with thermals on. I remember once I was using thermals and an invisible enemy passed in front of my teammate, and I saw my teammates thermals get cut out in the shape of a human, allowing me to get a kill on the invisible player.

This is still active Wednesday night/Saturday afternoon US time. Game is still good but I dislike some things added in later patches.

FoF is still pretty active. PVK2 got a recent major update and has been more active. Double Action Boogaloo which was the Source sequel to The Specialists is active. ZPS is somewhat active but has some issues, the original Zombie Panic for GoldSrc is being worked on by devs though oddly enough.

GoldSrc/Source mods were probably the most fun I had with gaming and I'm glad it's not dead at least.

Half Life 2 never got a definitive Sven Co-op, I guess you could say Garry's Mod was it but it really wasn't.
There were a bunch of attempts, one of them was Obysidian Something.
It had a map where you would go fishing for barrels of oil to buy a ship so that you can go dive for gems so that you have enough money to go to the moon and get moon rocks to bring back down and sell to buy something.

Resistance and Liberation was a more realistic WW2 game on Source.
There was also a Revolutionary War mod for Source.
Firearms: Source was fun until they burned down in drama.
Fortress Forever got overshadowed by the TF2.
There was that RTS/FPS hybrid, Empires?
I am pretty sure there was also a mod for Source that was basically the Space battles from Battlefront 2. I am not hallucinating this, right?
There was also a team deathmatch mod that came out pretty late, around 2013ish I think, the only thing I remember being that there was a minigun class.
Like 3 different Zombie mods, right? Zombie Master, something else and something else.
Hidden was another one.

Between GoldSrc and Source there must have been several dozen multiplayer (and singleplayer) mods that at some point had a crowd around them.

Oh shit, there was an Interstate '76 mod, which in on of itself must be a forgotten series.

Pretty fun car combat game on Mech Warrior 2 engine, the sequel '82 was on MW3 engine.
I tried playing '76 like a decade ago but it had a physics problem related to CPU clockspeed or what not, basically cars were glued to the ground which wouldn't be a massive issue if not a mission that requires you to jump a bridge. I think it could be fixed but I did not bother with that.

I guess we might as well bring up Quake 3 mods, remember those?
There was Western Quake 3 mod,
There was a Counter-Strike clone (or maybe a predecessor?)
There was a flight simulator mod, I think you could fly a B2 in it (didn't have bots).
Pretty sure there was also a Team Fortress mod for that, how could it not?

lmao, what the fuck.
I probably didn't play it for that long, I remember there being co-op story missions and that water level which was my favorite, but once I had it figured out it wasn't as fun anymore.

You just don't see big projects as mods like this much anymore. Fair, people now have the option to make their own games and earn actual money instead, but also modern games don't really seem that forthcoming to mods as the old ones did.
Even around 2012 all the big modding scenes were for games almost decade old with a few exceptional standouts, such as Warband

it's even more retarded than you can ever imagine
basically in highschool, my ex best friend told me he always wanted to join the army
me having no prospects in my future, decided to join with him. I made it through the process and swore on a bible and everything like a good automaton. next day he told me he failed the tests and flunked out, wasn't gonna try again. I remember telling him are you fucking kidding me? I literally swore my life away dumb fuck. Consolation was, he felt really bad about it and among a bad home life (parents beat him daily) and having bad romance (ex-gf got him fired from his job by planting false evidence and he went to court) then his sister had enough of their life and stole his dog which was his only real saving grace at home. Later, almost eight years later, I got out and linked up with him again, and he told me he was really sorry. I don't really talk to him but I personally don't blame him. And well, it let me go to school in the end, so it wasn't all that bad.

Astal for Saturn. It was the closest thing to a Sonic that came out for Saturn, but the gimmick instead of being really fast was being really strong. I thought it was awesome back in the day, but I've never heard it discussed, and it's certainly never been ported anywhere. It lived and died entirely on Saturn. The only "problem" with the game is that at some point you WILL have to use a guide, because some of the things you have to do are practically impossible to figure out. Apparently they made the game like this on purpose so back then people would have to talk about the game and share information to progress
That said it's very unique and worth playing if you don't mind having to look at a guide at some point

In our city there's only really one big base, so we imagined at least interacting on a bi-weekly basis. At the same time, we knew we'd probably be separated, but at least we would have done it "together". Also, this was even more likely when I passed my recruitment test phase and I realized I had pretty much any job I wanted, so I ended up picking a non-combat role. Because the way you get spells is contra productive to its design.
You can't use the stronger spells because the enemies are outright immune to them and your only option is to use the weaker ones and suffer through bulletsponges or use the reflect ability because for some reason the enemies aren't immune to their spells.

After playing this game for 2h it came to me that this is probably what someone who dislike point'n'click games imagines when thinking about an average point'n'click game. German, no really funny despite trying to be, writing that isn't that interesting, kinda ugly and puzzles that are a bit on the absurd side. I would even say it's a straight-up bad game, but mediocre and uninteresting, which in a way is worse. Shame, because I remember liking Ankh, the previous game of the studio, which is part of the reason why I even picked this game up.

Army Men was such a kino series, even if it got milked to death by 3DO. Never got a chance to actually play the 3D ones proper since they ran at a silky smooth 3 fps on the family computer at the time and some dipshit stole the disks for Sarge's Heroes and Air Attack, but the first game with cheats and World War were great. They got away with way more violence and shit than any other e-rated game would.
The concept was even cooler if you actually had and played with the toys the games were modeled after as a kid.

horror game threads are already a little uncommon outside of big releases, and Siren is a 22 year old game in a series that last got an entry in 2008 that (rightfully) has reputation for being incredibly obtuse and difficult with a sequel that hasn't been re-released for anything while also never coming out in america
it makes more sense in the zeitgeist of the early 2000s when you had everyone making websites/forums for specific topics, along with japan having a strong forum culture already present - it's not fighting against a flood of weekly releases and tides of low effort unity horror games

This is the best Battlefront and most people I know who are obsessed with OG Battlefront don't even know it exists.
>custom class system
>custom soldier system
>New planets with every existing one re-worked to fit a smaller scale better instead of just layering on fog like the previous PSP
>Multiple new weapons like an orbital laser beacon and railgun-like sidearm
>New heroes like IG-88, Kit Fisto, Admiral Ackbar, and Asajj Ventress
>Story is a mirror to the 501st Legion and is about Han Solo's personally assembled squadron
>Entirely new Galactic Conquest mode with troop management that requires you to allocate how many units you will move between planets and maintain your army between turns. It also has a progression tree with a territory system that unlocks Generals like Han Solo or Admiral Thrawn for purchase that will give unique buffs as long as you keep the territory
>"Alternate" control scheme actually functions now
>Emulates well so you can re-map them anyway

You are missing out if you haven't played this.
The sequel Elite Squadron is nightmarishly bad and rushed as fuck but it's codename in development was Battlefront 3 if you want to glimpse what could have been first-hand.
