Thinking about it, Little Ghost is also ancient, no younger than the Hollow Knight himself. Kind of odd that he's still tiny all this time later. Is time itself broken in Hallownest, or perhaps the wastelands beyond Hallownest, since that's where the Knight came from?

NTA but the Knight somehoe escaped from the Void but we just don't know how, same goes for the other vessels you see throughout Hallownest. They probably heard the HK's call and returned too but failed.

He got out of the abyss through some random hole in bumfuck nowhere and lost his memory due to being too far from hallownest. That is why you need to dreamnail yourself eventually.
