Left is an action RPG, the right is a turn-based RPG. You want sweaty hands? Left. You want to just chill and auto-battle? Right.

They are non-comparable.
WuWa is a BotW clone that also happens to be fucking slog for 40 player ranks. For the entirety of the chapter 1. It's story is also complete nonsense and boring.
Star Rail is a 4 character turn based RPG. It at least has an interesting concept and it's characters aren't all Chinese names.

They really aren't that similar outside of gacha, but WuWa has been a consistently more interesting game for me. HSR has fallen off and I completely dropped it during the last world. Heard it's gotten better in the last patch or so but I have doubts.

>>719756361
WuWa starts out weak but starts to pick up at Rinascita and has been pretty good since. HSR peaked early but has varied in quality since, with notRome being even worse than notChina.

>starts out weak
The start being Half it's current content. said content that is weak is the first half of the current content. You have to suffer through dogshit for a week or two depending on your daily playtime.
HSR story was interesting for two worlds. Then you make it to the Xianzhou Luofu. Then you leave and it's interesting again. Then you go back to the Xianzhou Luofu. Then you leave again and get back to interesting shit again.
You had to go through two full ass regions in WuWa before the game got remotely interesting and stopped bombarding you with Chinese names.

HSR's writing is dogshit. Its pseudo intellectual garbage and full of all these nonsense terms you have to learn, as bad as or worse than Wuwa is about that.
I don't think anyone pretends that Wuwa has good writing but it's also not the entire point of the game like HSR is. HSR's story patches are hours and hours long. 2.0 and 3.0 are both like 10 fucking hours long.

There is at least a game there in Wuwa. There is no fucking game in HSR. It's nonstop chink writing dialogue and inbetween you turn on autobattle.

Right, so it's either play a game that starts strong but gets shitty later or one that starts shitty but gets good later.

I'd also add that WuWa is basically a harem game since you collect waifus like pokemon. In contrast HSR shoves one or maybe two waifus down your throat so if you prefer any of the other girls you are out of luck. I say this as a Kafkafag.

Dogshit beginning, only good when you get to certain quests 10-20 hours in.

The first 10 hours are the only good part of the game. Its all downhill from there and its a sharp incline.

No. It's a game that starts strong then has ups and downs.
Or play a game that is ass for half your playtime then gets good later. Not to say after 2.0 it goes back to being ass later.

Yeah? Ok let me narrow it down to both of their 2.0s specifically. Still less than 20% since they added more Chinese characters post 2.0 when you had to come back to the Xianzhou Luofu/ In which they added 5 more chinese named characters.

HSR's a little annoying to get into if you're starting fresh. It doesn't have a ton of amenities for new players. The first two worlds are pretty easy, but after Luofu it's gonna be a little annoying unless you stop and grind some shit out for a while. Team composition matters since it's turn-based and there's not a whole lot of wiggle room in regards to how you play. Enemy damage blows up exponentially after Luofu so if you don't have a halfway decent sustain, it's gonna get harder. The game does give you characters like Natasha and Preservation Trailblazer, but your DPS options are gonna be lacking unless you roll someone that can hit reasonably hard. Most 4-stars hit like wet noodles without significant long-term investment and materials costs rise exponentially once you hit Trailblaze Level 50, which you'll probably hit shortly before Penacony.

These issues aren't that bad for day 1 players since there's a lot of downtime between patches, but most gacha games encourage getting up-to-date as soon as possible. No one wants to finish Luofu and spend a week grinding without moving onto the next world.

Fair enough, enjoy. Which has better waifus is subjective but personally find WuWa treats it's waifus better since HSR plays favorites a lot more. Also WuWa has 'bigger' girls.
Anonymous No.719759095
I've played both since day 1. They're difficult to compare because they're very different kinds of games. One is an open world action RPG, the other is a turn-based RPG. Star Rail has been around a bit longer so it's got a longer story to go through and you'll probably get more total playtime in the process of catching up to current content than Wuwa if that's part of your consideration.
If you're more interested in story, Star Rail starts off really strong and gets progressively worse. Wuwa starts off bad and gets progressively better. Music-wise, Star Rail has some awesome stuff for big finales but otherwise it's mostly forgettable. Wuwa's 1.0 music was dogshit but it's improved by leaps and bounds to the point where it's pretty consistently great now.

My personal opinion is that Wuwa started off shaky but has improved by leaps and bounds and is overall the better game. Story presentation, voice-acting, music, etc. The combat is one of its strongest points, but if you're more in the mood for a turn-based RPG, go with Star Rail. Otherwise, I'd go with Wuwa.

On the flipside, HSR's characters have a little more agency. The world keeps moving forward with or without the Trailblazer. Hell, the Trailblazer isn't even always at the center of everything. In the Luofu chapters, they're just side characters. Obviously, there ARE times when they're extremely vital since they're the main character, but there are plenty of characters who barely even speak to them, like Jingliu, Anaxa, Feixiao or Jade.

I'm ok with this sometimes but other times like Amphorous? it goes too far to a point (You) feel almost totally irrelevant. Apparently that has changed recently but the issue there is the hyper-reliance on others, namely Phaenon, means you have to really like him. And I didn't give a shit about him.
Anonymous No.719759535
>>719759265
I find that Trailblazer being a borderline noncharacter hurts Star Rail more than it helps. They leaned way too far into the joke character aspect after 1.0, and Penacony felt like shit with all the character POV hopping where everyone seemed to have some grand plan that you don't really understand, and the character that's supposed to be your eyes to experience the story is completely inconsequential and uninvolved in most of what's going on.
Anonymous No.719759726 >>719760980
>>719759442
The issue with Amphoreus is that it's too much of a slow burn. In the first half, the Trailblazer is just an outsider, someone who is unrelated to what's happening. They're trying to help, but they're not really meant to be the protagonist of this story yet. It's only when the Flame Chase Journey draws to its conclusion that it becomes clear that they're much more important than initially presumed. In another medium, the story of Amphoreus would be split into two parts. In Part 1, the protagonist is just the Ishmael. A sidekick, a helper, an outsider who watches things unfold with a fresh perspective. And then in Part 2, they take the helm as the true protagonist.

What hurts Amporeus the most is that it's stretched out over the course of an entire fucking year. On top of that, there are TWELVE Chrysos Heirs that need to be stretched out, each with their own stories and fates.

120 FPS unlocked! And yes, I'm only upgrading because of WuWa.
Anonymous No.719760980 >>719761195
>>719759726
The other problem is just about every Chrysos Heir is either boring, underutilized, or both. 3.0-3.3 were a fucking slog, and 3.4 only got good at the very end. It took 6 months for the story to actually become passably interesting, but 3.6 went right back to being boring again so who knows what 3.7 is gonna be.
Anonymous No.719761195
>>719760980
On the contrary, most of the Chrysos Heirs seem to be relatively popular. Phainon, Mydei, Tribbie, Cipher, Cipher and Cerydra all seem to have their fans.
