You played old games (that you played SO MUCH as a kid) for 50-150 hours, you play new games for 600-3000 hours

I've heard that all modern controllers have to outsource to the exact same shitty Chinese company now for the stick modules. I'm in the same boat as you OP, my PS1 and 2 controllers went through hell and are still perfect. Even my sixaxis is still in tip top shape. However, I went through 4 DualShock 3s for some fucking reason - they all had issues with the sticks after a couple years.

Same. My PS2 controllers are gross and fucked up from all the abuse they got when I was a kid and they still work. Meanwhile I've had to buy three different DS4s because of drift, what a joke.

they're still made by alps just like in the ds1 and ds2
modern controllers have higher sensitivity analogue sticks, older controllers don't drift because they aren't sensitive enough for drift to effect them
basically its sony being retards and not changing stick types because they know they can sell another controller

Every PS3 controller I have spasms the fuck out and I had to open them up and add tape to a pad. My only PS5 controller had stick drift in less than 6 months

if your ps1 and ps2 controllers still work like new thanks for telling us you didnt play much. mine from that era got stick drift after 2-3 years and i played just as much as i did for ps3 and ps4
ps4 controllers quality got worse in the last few years so they got stick drift in 12-18 months if not sooner.

sorry to hear so many of you play so little you havent got stick drift yet. ill guess you dont play shooters or action games which require alot of stick movement and clicking the sticks in

They build modern controllers to fail so people go rebuy them. You gotta understand that game companies are no longer ran by people who're into gaming, the entire gaming industry is now ran by suits, and they are greedy and see you as consumer cattle.

modern control sticks are higher resolution and have tighter deadzones (ps3 is an exception, that's about as tight of a deadzone as you can get from official controllers) meaning they're more prone to drift
your ps2 controller under similar wear would fail the same way if it was as articulate, but it's not
