If anything that would be preferable since it would mean that each step would then have a gritty service for traction, you just have to give it enough time to dry because just like with cleaning it, you raise your chances of slipping 800x once that glass is wet

The problem isn't so much it being made of transparent material, there are plenty that could handle being stairs without breaking. The problem is there is no grip on them, so you're likely to slip if you ever walk on them with socks or slightly wet shoes. They'd better have put a handrail along the wall later on, or this is awful. There's a reason most stairs are carpeted or have grip tape lines or wooden ridges on them

Then how do you clean it, top to bottom or bottom to top?
Top to bottom, gotta let it dry and you're stuck on the ground floor. Bottom to top, and you're stuck upstairs. See, this kinda modernist bullshit is what I hate. Gimmie some damn wooden stairs. Hell I'll do it myself.

Southeast asians love stupid shit like this. I have no clue why, but I always see this sort of shit whenever I visit. And it's always done ridiculously sloppily with things unevenly spaced and no attempt at measuring anything. Paint splattered everywhere. Just foul to look at.

Anon, that's not what cantilever means. OP pic is a sheet of glass that is IN cantilever. Cantilever just means supported by a fixed condition on one end with a free end. I'm an engineer and I get tilted when people use technical words correctly.

Very low. You would pretty much need to land with something metal hitting right on the edge or corner and even then you would only break one sheet which due to the lamination would mostly stay as a fairly smooth surface. Even if both sheets break it would more of a case of the entire tread just dropping away mostly intact with a bend at the edge of the support.

It's not the material itself, it's how it's mounted that's the problem. One-sided mount turns it into a lever that amplifies stress. I hate designs that are inherently less safe just so it "looks cool".
