Time to make the ultimate choice /v/. You must choose only A or B no in between
A. Game you like you is also liked by hundreds of thousands of normalfags including those who never played games before and are following trends. It breaks sales records and current players and is all over social media like youtube and shit
B. Game you like is literally unknown to anyone especially mainstream normalfags and never ever gets mentioned hardly even on places like /v/. It doesn't have sales or player numbers and barely even has any fan made stuff like fanart or discussion
Be extremely honest, which one would you rather have?

I'd love to see gorillions of normalfags trying to make sense of Hissoutensoku, LELMAO.

A is for people who actually care about the game and thus want it to be successful to get more good games from the developer
B is for pretentious faggots who get off on knowing something "underground"

Honestly, neither of these really affects singleplayer games. I pity those who are so insecure that they literally can't enjoy a game unless it's well-known.
However, if I'd have to pick one of the two I'd probably pick A because a better known game usually has more mods, which could affect the game no matter the genre.

A

If a fanbase is shit, I don't engage with it or pay attention. If social media and Youtube fucks are obnoxious about it, I don't engage. In all other cases, a niche game I enjoy becoming popular typically means a flood of discussion online, fan art, the higher possibility of a sequel, and just outright more stuff for me to enjoy surrounding something I like. Sure, there's always the fear that a game hitting the mainstream could then skew the sequel in some way because the dev wants to appeal to them, but a game completely falling int obscurity doesn't give much of a chance of seeing anything from it in the future either.

People act like fanbases and mainstream media are these invasive things that you can't escape. Fucking don't look at cringe fan art, don't watch dumbass video essays that get everything wrong, and stop caring about what a streamer ranted about to his drooling followers. Literally just enjoy what's good and ignore the rest. And if it messes with the game itself or how the dev makes a sequel, then you still had a good experience and you move on.

this is the most retarded question ever, you are gay. there is no downsides to A.
>but muh normalfags!
if my favourite game even inspires more games to be made like it, either in the same series or similar games as a new IP, then i am happy. it is better if normalfags like what i like, that way i am not such a social outcast. as it stands, people don't understand me where i work because what i watch, play, and listen to are so outside of the scope of normalfags that i am literally a giant question mark to normal people.

People who choose B act like non normalfags aren’t assholes to each other just as much, if not more over normalfags.
