Marketing research is important, just basic colors are used for specific purposes to appeal to specific cultures. As a finn, you sure as hell see Finnish flag in stuff or blue+white combo. If you're american, I'm sure stars and stripes makes you feel specific way, or those 6 first notes.
You may think pandering and targeting like that won't work on you because you're smart. But it has nothing to do with your intelligence. Even vidya marketing and hype culture is effective and SSBU marketing team has been genious. And Nintendo in general with their Direct format.
Like even people who are just half-interested in Nintendo games watches ads for 40minutes straight sometimes.
