that's understandable, because comics backed themselves into a corner of irrelevancy, and most people are only exposed to the characters through other media now.
I literally have tried to follow DC comics, and it's hard. It's mostly just a conveyor belt of slop designed to sell you more slop, when all you really want is a good Batman story with good art, and not to have to red Batwoman and Dick Greyson comics as well.
