It kinda sucks that fundamentally these games hit that sweet autistic spot in my brain, but I can't really talk about them anywhere.

Destiny is literally impossible to get into if you haven't already been playing because they removed 80% of the game, so realistically that only leaves you with Borderlands even if it has objectively worse itemization and lore. Still a fun game, I enjoyed playing Borderlands 1 + all its DLCs for the first time this year, also finished Borderlands 2 base campaign but got burned out while doing the DLCs. Fun games.

Borderlands 1 was fun.
Borderlands 2 had good gameplay, but terrible most everything else. Handsome Jack had some good moments.
Pre-sequel and all that stuff sucked.
3 was utterly dreadful.
Movie was comically bad.
And so nobody has any hope for 4.

If they get the gameplay okay, it might be fun. But, looking at the current character options and characters, I think they still don't get it.

If you could mute the dialog in Borderlands it's a great franchise. Everything but the shooting and itemization is incredibly gay.

I haven't played 1 yet but 2 and the presequel are fun, 3 is good but replayability is a big thing in those games and sorry but it's literally impossible to play more than one full playthrough because of how shit and FUCKING LONG the story is

I wouldn't have even minded that it was long if it was full of great ideas and enemies like the robots that lose bodyparts in 2 and the helicopter thingies never got old to blow up. There is nothing like that in 3 that made me go "neat". It was a slog, but the shooting was alright.

Pretty much spot on. Borderlands starts great, and gets worse over time, relying more on attempts to be badass and memes of the day over enjoyable gameplay. Most of the drops are garbage. Handsome Jack was a great villain that you actually end up rooting for because the rest of the cast is so mediocre. But by the time you finish Borderlands in Space and play Borderlands: Gay D&D Edition it's just an unenjoyable slog.

It has the most gameplay and most mechanics all polished to an absolute shine but it's important to remember that all of them were used fucking terribly resulting in the most lackluster game in the series by a mile.
Very cool they ekpt slams from pre-sequel but never give you a chance to use them organically.
Also very cool how they design a mobile enemy capable of climbing and interacting with the environment in ways the player can't while still using guns and then the only time they're used in the campaign is in a flat featureless room where you killbox them for a few minutes waiting to exhaust npc dialogue.

Reminder, that there are Unofficial Patch mod and Map Enchancement mod (by the same developer) for the original Borderlands, that fix a lot of bugs (including, but not limited to broken class mods), spawns and respawns, quest rewards etc. Exists on nexus and on author's github.

I'm not a diehard fan, I've beaten BL1 a few times, I think I beat UVHM in BL2 (but I didn't grind the endgame) and I dabbled a bit in BL3. BL3 has (by far) the most satisfying and responsive controls, the other games don't even come close. What I didn't like is that legendary drops were a bit too frequent. I think Mayhem Mode has a lot of potential but the execution was kind of shit. It's nice that you don't have to beat the game 3 times to enter the true endgame, but the system just begs to be exploited. In an ideal world you'd gradually increase the Mayhem level from 1 to 10 (11?) as your progressively get better drops but you're pretty much better off just maxing it out and cheesing some guaranteed spawn and there you have your OP weapons. The endgame just felt like running tedious arenas over and over again, and guns ranged from "this looks good on paper but it's actually fucking ass" (rocket launchers in my experience) to "this looks mid on paper but it's a legendary with some really overpowered hidden bonus so it's better than your other weapons combined." It's primarily the player's responsibility not to exploit and optimize the fun out of games but the devs didn't really implement Mayhem Mode in a good way IMO. Overall I still liked the game though. Characters and dialogue fucking sucked ass, as per usual.
