I don't see the appeal of YAML at all. It's already easy to make ridiculously strong versions of any mech and the game as a whole isn't difficult enough to even require you to do that, YAML just seems like the absolutely typical mod bullshit removing all limits and adding overpowered nonsense you don't need.

There are lots of Mech 2 Mercs callbacks here, including the first encounter with the clans at the pirate campaign in 3049.
Also callbacks to what Tex covered on the Twycross video.

The game has felt pretty complete at least since the DLC prior to this, if you ask me. That's still pretty shit, it was in a bad way for fucking years, but I wasn't expecting any further DLC and would have been fine with that.

How do you access the new campaign? Is it separate from the existing campaign or career modes? Also, is it as good as Clans and the Ghost Bear expansion?

Just load the DLC and start the campaign, Also is quite Mech 2 Mercenaries once the clans show up and there are tons of contracts to halt their advance, plus there is a better salvage system, but here there is a story plot With a SLDF Atlas II at the end.

Porting mechwarrior to consoles at all. Consoles simply don't have enough buttons for mechwarrior. The gameplay was much better as a PC exclusive. Also ruined the possibility of mechwarrior ever having more than squads of mechs to command instead of 10s of mechs, vehicles, and aircraft on huge maps like in battletech. Now the gameplay is one four man squad with nothing but assault mechs 99% of the time.

They start appearing in stores after a certain date, before that though no you can't, they're rare lostech at that point in the lore so you have to get them from heroes. Maybe some specific variants of non-hero mechs might have them at some points too.

Why? I played the game, even grabbed all the mech art (would-be IICs since FASA were cheap fucks) from it for the btg booru.
It's the exact same game, the static arts just look better because it has quality anime artstyle over the OG DOS stuff. But the game loop/mech gameplay is the same in both versions.

You may want to mod the jump an/or repair costs unless you prefer the scenario of your small merc company barley scraping by. Heroes has mission chains plugged into the base campaign while Kestral has more direct with "go here to start this", both were enjoyable for me.

Bought it could of days ago. You get to play as fucking mech pilot and it's not eva type mech, it's a bulky and heavy walker machine. You can run through buildings, absolutely assrape tanks and apcs and shit loads of dakka. The world also feels big and with a lot of stuff happening around you, with you being just a piece on the galactic board. Theres a lot to be desired, but core is fun. Getting into mech and blowing shit up is fun. What else do you need?
