Best friend and I got this at midnight launch, played for something like 18 hours straight doing all of Subspace (co-op) in a single go. It's not my favorite Smash, but that was pure kino and one of my favorite gaming memories beyond a shadow of a doubt.

I was the target audience for this game age-wise when it came out but my friends and I still liked melee more because even stupid kids like us could notice how sluggish the movement and fighting was in this game.

homebrew channel saved this game for us, we could fuck around with all kinds of mods and take funny screenshots mid match but I spent more sleepovers using my wii to play snes and gba games then I did for the game that made me buy the wii in the first place.

Brawl felt way too floaty and then there was tripping. I played Smash bros on Switch and it felt better but I keep losing track of my character during clashes and that ruins the game for me. It happened sometimes on the WiiiU Smash too but in the Switch Smash I ALWAYS can't tell which character is sent flying it's like every attack leaves blinding fart clouds.

I wonder if we'll ever get anything like Subspace again. I feel like one of the reasons Ultimate strayed away from having a proper story mode is the prospect of having to write a narrative with that many characters, though maybe if the next game ends up having a smaller roster, Sakurai might cave?

My Wii just couldn't read the disc 99% of times, shit sucks man. From what I read might have been due to horrible smoker household but dunno. I recently replayed SSE on intense because I've never played brawl in HD before.

Only good things about Brawl were some of the new characters, SSE and cutscenes for the first time, and some of the new remixes. Melee is way fucking better even from a casual standpoint.

Except it doesn't. Melee doesn't have some of my favorite characters from Brawl, it doesn't have boss battles, and it pales in comparison to Brawl's single player content.

Items being OP is what makes them fun to use. It gives your friends that don't play Smash 24/7 a fighting chance. Otherwise you just destroy them for 10 minutes and they never want to play Smash again.
