The whole reason why remakes are a thing now is because it costs too much and takes too long to make AAA games. Nintendo sidesteps this by not using powerful cutting-edge hardware anymore and making hybrid handhelds. So they occupy a different market from Sony and Microsoft. Their last cutting-edge hardware was Gamecube, which flopped. They can't make anything new or good anymore so they must rely on nostalgia and love for the Mario and Zelda IP's to sell. And it works. If AAA games development is too expensive and takes too long, I would like to see Sony try this approach and use less-powerful hardware and introduce a new way to play, similar to how the analog stick offered something new. Go back to making PS2 games and work that new gimmick, whatever it is.

Has Nintendo ever used cutting edge hardware?

Actually its because no one can make a financially succesful product if it has a big budget anymore because the amount of dei llgbtq diversity restrictions are so intrusive they literally cant make anything likeable anymore so they side step this by doing remasters and appealing to nostalgia because its the only way to placate people with something likeable and they dont have to insert dei stuff because its a remake so accuracy is considered better. For example the people who own tomb raider fucking hate classic Lara and dont want her to exist, they will never make a modern game with her unless she has her diverse heckin wholesome cast behind her propping her up as white savior BUT they can sidestep this and still make money by releasing a remake of the classics but they will never bring back any of those "classic" elements in a modern game because its against the agenda.

You guys are looking too deep into it.
The real reasons are simple
>Consolefags can't play the originals unless they dig out their old consoles
>Nostalgia pandering to shitllennials that want to "relive their childhood" and zoomers that want the game "modernized"
OP is right about costs though, they're much cheaper than a fully original game since they already have a blue print filled out.

Gamecube was close. WiiU's networking method of delivering low latency video/audio to its controller was also arguably cutting edge for a consumer device.

The talent is gone. Japanese are either too old or retired, while DEI bullied out the talented white coders in favor of 200 jeets that do the work in double the time at a tenth of the cost.

No, the real reason is that they spent decades replacing anyone with talent with foreigners and nepo hires and now they can't come up with good ideas anymore. So instead they reburn the ashes of previous successes because they know that there was something of value in there, even if they are literally incapable of understanding what it was.

maybe the retards making AAA games should make less graphically intensive games that both run better on a wider variety of machines and cost less in time and resources to develop
maybe they should do that and they would make more money
but they won't
because their leadership is fucking retarded

will those internet holes ever be replaced
we had them since forever, I was already already into computers when usb was invented, but, the internet holes are still the same
actually now I'm trying to think, they were similar to some cables that went into your phone
