Because localizers specifically have drawn a fuck ton of ire towards themselves in recent years. People just want an appropriate level of localization only dipping into writing new material for a work where something is untranslatable or doesn't have an english equivalent.
I don't know how (in)appropriate the translation for this is since I don't play gachashit, but I'm reminded of the case of the ”I Think I Turned My Childhood Friend Into a Girl” manga where the translator took a gay story about a guy being with a crossdressing guy and rewrote it to make the character trans instead, no consultation with the author or authority or nothing. It wasn't until it caused a massive stir in the community that the publishers acknowledged it and revised the translation in the future. Similar controversies have led to some works having most of the translating leg work done by AI.
Couple that with crunchyroll subs inserting memes in place of where a character was originally using slang or dubs inserting references to things that have nothing to do with the subject matter at hand like Gamergate and it's no wonder people have such a knee-jerk reaction to localizations these days.

most of Helios's slang is gyaru speak
gyaru speak is not intentionally esoteric (i.e. hidden behind 3 layers of irony, one of which is some obscene meme), and is instead just mostly contractions of things that are too cumbersome to say, or saying something in a cutesy way

"down bad" has unnecessary sexual connotations
I know people say it jokingly sometimes, but the implication is always there. No one ever says it without that nuance.
I know it's easy to just think "she didn't mean THAT part", but it adds up.

Like I'm pretty sure she says "glaze" at some point too, and if you're online enough to know what that means, then you know where it comes from, and the resulting connotation that term comes with.

Because they're really bad at their job. At this point, you're really not losing anything. Which is really sad. Japanese is one of hardest langauges for native english speakers to learn, as far as bilingual skills go it should very marketable or at the very least secure. But these people are just insanely inept.
