It was more like Liquid or Ocelot predicted what Campbell and Snake would both be comfortable with, working with Master. They didn't protest or put up any resistance because of their deep respect for him and his guidance, although Campbell thought it was odd *his* direct codec link to Miller was cut off and Miller was communicating on his own accord with them.

Also, other than Otacon the only person who seems interested in helping Snake discover the truth and dig into details about Foxdie in Miller. He always voices concerns and suspicions that sound reasonable and often end up becoming true, cementing his place as the wise tutor in Snake's mind... all to make it even more crushing when "Master" just laughs at Snake as the nuclear warhead is activated.

What I want to know is how in the hell Liquid was able to get in contact with Campbell to have him added onto the Codec call without anyone raising suspicion at all. Campbell never even asked to see Miller, he just added him to the group chat? Keep in mind, this is AFTER Liquid's insurrection has already happened that he did this, and military command was aware that among the operatives under Liquid's command was Decoy Octopus, an absolute master of disguise...

NTA but yeah it's definitely an issue of gameplay conflicting with the story. There's absolutely no way that Snake can possibly see him, but it's not even the only time in the game that he remarks on visual cues. For example, he specifically tells Mei Ling that she looks attractive when he is first introduced to her by Campbell at the beginning of the game. It's never properly explained, much like how Codec calls will carry on calmly for minutes at a time while Snake is supposedly in the middle of combat. You could possibly explain why he can see him by assuming that it's some sort of further implant that stimulates his brain or something, but it's left completely in the air.

I actually listened to Miller from MGSV to Liquid/Miller in MGS and honestly they sound close enough that if the sound were muffled I could believe they're the same person. But even then they don't have the same speech patterns, so I'd sus it out right away. If we're to believe Liquid is actually 180IQ like the game claims, and he's supremely gifted at imitation, I could believe with months of preparation he could convincingly imitate Kaz. But the thing is he does this as a whim three days before the events of the game to throw them off, he didn't pre-plan it at all.

the problem is that they don't fully show the codec's capabilities, but its also assumed to be undergoing upgrades the entire time.
In OG metal gear it was intended to be just a radio and used as such.
In MGS they clearly wanted to upgrade it and give it visuals, but never fully explained it.

It's unknown where he was at the time, but there definitely was no sightline from Snake to Liquid since he was in a closed room at the time. The series really has several of these instances. Sometimes, they jump back and forth, even in the same game. For instance, in one radio transmission Snake makes a joke that he claims makes Paramedic blush, to which she replies there's no way he could see that to be sure. Snake simply responds he's imagining it. But then in that same game if you wear the Raikov mask and call people they will humorously not know that it's you at first. The games are just littered with this stuff.

Miller coming in as an advisor made perfect sense.
He was an advisor alongside Campbell in the previous metal gear 2 game.
He was the one who trained Solid Snake to fight and take down Venom Snake (fake big boss) and gave him a lot of advice.
He even wore sunglasses back then as well, but they weren't completely blacked out.

Chronologically, the game should have ended after 1. As it pertains to gameplay, it improved with every iteration. Clearly Kojima lost the plot at some point though. He definitely needed less "Yes men" in his studio and more "No men" to rein in his retardation. He and Lucas are so much alike it's uncanny.
