Its not really a poor thing here in Europe. More people just seem to buy android. My dad uses some 1000 Euro Samsung android phone and so do most other people I know. My zoomer sister is the only person I know who uses an iphone. Most older people seem to use android here in Europe.

I'm currently on android and you can't do dick on it anymore.
No themes, bootloaders are locked so no custom roms, no rooting, scoped storage makes 90% of the file system inaccessible, even sideloading is going away. There's already DRM in certain apps like that new Sonic Blitz game that's Brazil exclusive that checks the Play Store to make sure you're allowed to use the app even after you sideload it.
Literally the only things Android has over iOS now is using browsers other than Safari and alternate app stores, which is also getting cracked down on because of Googles Play Integrity bullshit.
