TEVI is great but lacks something compared to Rabi-Ribi. It mirrors how I currently feel about Silksong and Hollow Knight right now. Silksong, like TEVI, did a few things better but also some stuff way worse.

I hope silksong will make me change opinions by the end but it's unlikely. Bunny love will save the metroidvania genre

I'm inclined to say that's a good thing because it would make optimal boss punish combos a lot more input heavy and really doesn't add that much depth. I would not enjoy having to mash shoot while trying to do a hammer combo and it would suck if the game was also balanced around that.

the dude focused more on combat in tevi instead of metroidvania stuff so it was different than what people expected. i think most of them admit the combat was better but it sacrificed the non-linearity which bunnybros loved. you could beat that game without ever even picking up the bonking hammer, like how though but somebody did!

Tevi isn't bad, but the exploration and level design are much worse. It's especially bad if youre trying to collect everything because it constantly does that annoying shit of "pick a path, one leads to a collectable, the other forces you down a path that locks you out of backtracking" which is retarded for a game like this.

Yeah, that's honestly what killed the vibe for me. TEVI feels like it wants to be a spectacle fighter with exploration tacked on, instead of a metroidvania that just happens to have great combat. The non-linear magic of Rabi-Ribi was half the fun-piecing your own route together, sequence breaking stuff. TEVI locks you in too much early on. It’s polished, sure, and combat's tight, but it misses the heart. Still hoping Rabi 2 remembers what made it special.

I loved how the map matched with your understanding of the game world and expanded as you progressed through the world. I don't remember it being particularly complicated.

Never played it. The portrait art bothers me so much! I heard it was the RWBY artist which makes sense why it has a western feel.

Don't worry, that's a legitimate complaint. Some characters, including your buddies, look so overdesigned that I feel like it ruined the game for me since the very beginning. I know steampunk is supposed to be overdesigned, but all those orbs and stuff just don't look good.

everyone says the gameplay itself is better than rabi-ribi but I could not get into it, the satellites/crafting turned me off
they did patch in a free mode so you can skip the story/railroading without beating the game at least

Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be garbage because everyone with an ounce of talent is gone, not that they had a lot to begin with. It's all pajeets now. Rabi Ribi 2 still has a chance

Actually I liked some of the royalty free music back when the game launched but the new ones are fine substitutes

I think it's pretty good. Melee mashing is much more fun when compared to RR and I absolutely love giant spanner moves. On the other hand it's easier than RR on comparable difficulties. As far as I remember the major difference is that there's less bullets to dodge overall, on top of giving you golden dodge option and temporary "bullets be gone" field (expanding on already existing RR get out of jail cards). The badge build aspect seems good at first, but I believe it basically makes you pick either maximum melee badges or maximum shooter badges. 50/50 change is that charged shots are fired automatically when you have >100 MP and you can stack it pretty high, so you can dump 10 charged shots in a second in late parts of the game.
I remember people didn't really like free roam mode being locked behind first game completion, which was somewhat railroaded, but I don't really mind it that much.
It's definitely more Rabi-Ribi, but not Rabi-Ribi 2. Maybe more like Rabi-Ribi 1.3 or "Rabi-Ribi fan project that somehow got commissioned to the developer of Rabi-Ribi".

Mediocre and unbalanced is the word, pretty fucking wild considering how rabi ribi fine-tuned the difficulty to perfection.

In Rabi Ribi if you play on hard the game will be hard and Irisu will own your ass for 3 hours straight because god forbid you on fucking up her fucking ridiculous and overly complex patterns, but if you play Tevi on hard expecting it to be hard then you will get disappointed because on hard the MC can take a million hits on her stupid idiotic face and never actually die you can simply ignore what the boss is doing and attack like a retarded caveman and win without ever needing to use an item or even be in danger or losing.

I didn't even want to try higher difficulties on Tevi because the story is shit and the characters are abhorrent, deliberately fucking unlikeable mary sue MC and over 70% of the cast is males, literally the most fun I had with Tevi is the little section where you play a minigame as Erina.

Like come the fuck on, even the nonstory of rabi-ribi was better than this shit and all they do in rabi-ribi is fuck around doing nothing in the town while Erina runs around the place making friends after fighting them over usually a retarded misunderstanding.

to me, the biggest disappointment was the soundtrack.
When I played the demo when it came out I thought it weird they were going with mainstream musicians like Dance With the Dead and looking back now, the track they made for the forest segment doesn't even fit that much.
The og RR soundtrack is so freakin' good, full of soul, DnB here, EDM there, sometimes it's just bouncy happy music that you expect from such a game. A shame that Tevi's didn't end up like that. In fact, I can't remember a single track
