i enter this weird state of FOMO with games i otherwise have zero interest in when they come out and the fanbase cries about it being hard and tedious, where I fear the devs are going to crack under pressure and completely baby mode the game from fear of backlash, and I wanna get in on it before that happens.

It's true tho. Platformers are better on keyboard and the down jump attacks are ridiculous. You have to hold down jump, swap to down mid jump, and then go back to pressing a direction to keep up momentum, then do the down shit again. It does not feel good at all.
