Western Sony didn't support it enough.
Too many games left untranslated.

Vita was absolutely 10/10 if you also imported games.

You could spend MORE money developing a vita game that was now expected to be console quality for a very small userbase, OR you could put your development money into 3DS, which was a platform with a much bigger install base and lower expectations in terms of presentation.
Also, when the 3DS floundered, Nintendo pivoted hard to save it. When the Vita flopped, Sony made one half assed push with the slim model and a shit port of Borderlands 2.
Vita is a great piece of hardware and there are some games worth playing on it but it was far too niche. There's a reason Nintendo had to move into the hybrid space. Console and handheld games could no longer exist in separate ecosystems.

Modern Sony. Abandoned 1 year? after release. That internet deal with at&t shit, the memory card shit and useless shit like the touch shit. So, a combination of things added because they're trendy and being miserable beyond belief trying to steal extra money with that memory card shit.

>expensive proprietary memory
>no fucking video games
>they made the Vita TV for some fucking reason
Pain. Pain and suffering. I wanted the successor to the PSP to succeed.

PSVita, like the PSP, was a portable multimedia device that could also play some video games.
Guess what else at the time was offering the same thing for cheaper?

no triggers, proprietary cards and ps3 being too powerful for ports unlike psp and ps2

it wasn't the PSP

>too expensive
>proprietary cards
>marketed as a pocket ps3 despite being barely able to run some ps3 games, and the shitty ports like borderlands and re revelations 2 didn't help
>no monster hunter
>the exclusive cod was awful
>sony just gave up instead of trying to focus on smaller games

I like the vita, but outside of killzone, fifa, uncharted and asscreed, there's zero dudebro appeal.
If at least it had the gta ports at the time, it would have been way more successful

Sony California decided to kill it early and focus on the PS4 instead.
You can get a SD2Vita now, and it removes 90% of the complaints people have about it.
