Never tried Vice City cos the control scheme is similar to 3 so I just assumed it would be as frustrating

especially in GTA3 with the missions where youre walking straight into cramped places with Hitscan AK and M16 wielding cartel members that instakill you

Yeah that was my problem, and I’ve never found enjoyment from just going on killing sprees like a lot of people do in GTA, in general I’m not a fan of objective-less gameplay, I like going through the missions.
I know they’re apparently awful but I’m almost tempted to give the definitive editions ago, because I believe the controls and aiming were modernized.
Either that or look into mods that make things easier, if they exist

every mission is just drive somewhere, pew pew someone and drive away it's usually easy enough
it would have been funny if they ported oil slicks into the 3d games, so you could cheese the races or make people drive straight off of bridges
it can be funny to do the fuckabout ways to get through missions, that is what gta is all about

in GTAIV, instead of starting in last, you can easily cheese all the races by reversing into 1st places front bumper, because bumping the other drivers or causing chaos forces the race to start.

I could never get into any of the GTA games. The stories were alright I guess but what is there to do in the open world? You can only drive around the same shit over and over and massacre the same five dudes until it stops being fun after like 10 minutes.

Like many sandbox games with very little objectives given to you when you boot it you kinda make your own fun, for me it was skydiving and seeing how many laps I could do around the entire map before I died or got busted. And that's fine I think open world games nowadays have you do shit at every corner because of this.

I got good at PS2 controls on vice city so i could do the rc helicopter mission with plenty of time to spare, but i can't do it with keyboard. There's too many buttons.

Playing GTA was a gateway for me spending 1100 hours in Euro Truck Sim
