Kirby is the only platformer I actually respect next to Castlevania, Mega Man and Metroid. Most platformers are complete slop with shit combat and braindead mechanics like Mario. Kirby goes surprisingly deep with its copy abilities and movement but most people miss it because in almost all Kirbys base game is piss easy and you don't see the mechanics shine until postgame.

blowing has been optional since the first game. now that we bring it up, maybe it would be an interesting shakeup if kirby could still suck and blow while holding a power, make the boss fights a little more dynamic and get off some satisfying big hits.

Kirby is more consistent and its highs are mostly thematic due to most of its content being intentionally very easy and simple until the late-postgame in nearly every title. Mario's highs are gameplay-oriented and are very high in that regard but it has more lows than Kirby by both volume and the sheer quality drops of those low points. Kirby isn't devoid of bad games but most of them are spinoffs while the only mainline Kirby I'd say is outright weak is DL2 (though I won't argue anybody saying Star Allies).

I'm glad I have the ability to like more than one thing so I can enjoy both Mario and Kirby.

Sucks that the toy hammer glitch got patched in the switch 2 version.
I managed to beat True Arena and Chaos Elfilis with 4 copies of them attacking me.

I don't know, but Elfilin is so god damn cute it's unbelievable, genuinely a perfect companion for Kirby.

Kirby is more consistent than Mario but Mario has had higher highs. I like Kirby, he’s fun. His side games are too, and a lot of them aren’t Kirby difficulty. Kirby’s Dream Course? You gotta try! But seriously I do wish there were some harder Kirby games. I love the true arenas and stuff but, c’mon now guys… they aren’t THAT hard. Might take a 2 or 3 tries, depends on what wacky move the soul boss at the end has that’s gonna fuck you over (RTDL DX Magalor Soul). Every game should’ve had an extra mode like DL and RTDL, though some games just replaced that with a mode where you play as the KING or the terrorist and fight buffed bosses. Abilityless runs are alright, done them for many of the games, but they’re kinda boring.

I played it over the long weekend. I only did the DLC as I already had my 100% save file. It was short and sweet; exactly what I want from a DLC expansion. More of a good thing without overstaying its welcome and becoming a slog.

A good Kirby level should have a straightforward, simple, linear path that even a child could complete, but have hidden offshoots with secrets, some of which are challenging. The game itself should be easy enough a child could beat it with little challenge, but should have a hard mode or challenge content for veteran players. Basically a Kirby game shouldn't be too hard; it should be a comfy game to relax at the end of the day.

Hell no. Kirby has nothing on par with SM64/Galaxy/Odyssey. Forgotten Land is good but it's 3D Land-tier.
