Total War Warhammer III
What are the best Dark Elves and Skaven campaigns if I never played them?
Tomb Kings or Vampire Coast?
Anonymous No.719852049 >>719852597
>DE
Wait for rework
>Skaven
Ikit, ranged gameplay is the most fun way to play Skaven. Sniktch is second because his region is more interesting and you can mod him to restore TW2's Malus mechanic
>TK
Either Settra or Arkhan. Khalida is a joke and while I like Khatep and his casket mount, there's just not enough deserts for him up north
>Vampire Coast
Any of them are good, except for Aranessa

>Tomb Kings OR Vampire Coast?
Oh whoops
TK just got updated and are generally more 'complete' but I've always found their playstyle to be less interesting, gunlines are more difficult and are sometimes annoyingly finnicky but are more engaging and satisfying to get working than monster mash. TK chariots are super sweet in the early game though, but they're all about the Constructs in the mid-late

That's just me though, honestly it could go either way. Pick the one you think is cooler

I don't really play DE or Skaven so I can't answer that part
As far as TK or VC, both factions are really well done and are fun in their own ways. I think it depends on if you like the fantasy of magical mummies or zombie pirates more.

I like the aesthetic of Tomb Kings a little bit more than Vampire Coast so I guess I should go with Settra
But are the Chaos Dwarfs as fun as Tomb Kings? I can't decide my next campaign while I wait for the Norsca update

Malekith and Hellebron can be sort of overwhelming because the Northern area is such a cluttered shit show of factions who specifically want to kill YOU and CA doesn't give Dark Elves the tools they could use to quickly unite the Druchii the same way other factions often do. Unfortunately their other Legendary Lords scattered in more easy going locations just aren't as interesting as THE WITCH KING. I'd just wait for their upcoming rework to see if things get better for Malekith.

For Skaven I'd say Throt or Snikch. A lot of people love Ikit and the Skaven gunlines and that's obviously a powerful army but personally I've never liked that playstyle for the Rats and massively prefer spamming stacks of Eshin or Moulder stuff and surrounding the enemy and tearing them apart.

Personally I found both TK and VC underwhelming and sort of undercooked for being DLC factions. Tomb Kings are just so slow to come online where as VC have a very awkwardly built roster that doesn't really feel like it develops in a satisfying way compared to other factions. I think a Settra campaign is worth a go just to enjoy reconquering the deserts but VC are meh.

To me Chorfs are a way better designed faction than TK. A lot more varied and interesting mechanics with more synergies going on that you can build armies around.

NTA but kino faction choices. Skaven is by far my favorite faction and Tomb Kings are a very close second and the lack of them in 40K is a travesty of the highest degree (yea yea yea Necrons I know, still bullshit). Vampire Coast I'm not a big fan of, they're extremely weak but neat looking.
I may be retarded but I don't really understand the question. Why are you talking about Tomb Kings/Vampire Coast when you asked about Dark Elves/Skaven? Because TK/VC are not Dark Elves and they're clearly not rats...

Yeah I fumbled the questions but the first question was because I'm interested in playing DE and Skaven but know nothing about their campaigns
And the second question was because I really like undead and wanted to know if TK or VC are more fun to play in a more general sense

People keep hyping up rattling gunners and warplock jezzails but warpfire throwers are still better desu

TK update fixed most/all of the issues. Combined with the updated traits and items, they now hold up to the other game 3 races. You also no longer need to rely on skeleton spam

For sandbox mode, skryre. Moulder is good too.
>delves
Morathi or KRAKEN LORD OF KAROND KAR

No idea about DE since I only ever played Malekith once. His campaign was alright back then, but this was during the TWWH2 days. I'm pretty sure DE have changed a bunch since then and the factions around Malekit's starting area sure as shit changed a lot.
Best Skaven campaign (and one of my favorites) is Ikit.
>Tomb Kings or Vampire Coast?
I'd go with Settra and Noctilus respectively.

>But are the Chaos Dwarfs as fun as Tomb Kings?
More fun I'd say, but it depends on what you like. Chorfs are a firepower + magic faction, if you enjoy seeing awesome artillery, guns and magic deleting enemy units then they're amazing. TK on the other hand start off with mostly trash infantry, trash archers and some chariots and shit, then later in the campaign they get some pretty cool single-entity monsters.

The very short range makes them far less useful and versatile IMO (unless it got a buff since I last played?). Yeah, if something gets in range they absolutely melt but it's much easier to get good shots off with higher range units.

You should do Khalida so you learn to respect the AI and make every early turn count.

For long range skaven units I prefer the mortars to anything else. I’ll usually keep 1 catapult since the ridiculous range always forces the ai to march at me

Gotcha. Well I did play Vampire Coast and had a bit of fun playing it, mostly from roleplaying, but it was a pretty painful run if you're not totally locked in. They definitely feel like the redheaded step child faction. There are some good mods to correct some glaring flaws tho.
Skaven is pure bliss. Rats are just chaos personified. Nukes, DOOM WHEELS, civil war, mechs, gatling, snipers, lightning cannon, puke catapults, massive hordes (endless chaff), etc. Too much fun playing schizoid sci-fi army in a fantasy setting. If you haven't given Skaven campaign a serious I'd highly suggest it.
Tomb Kings have infinite drip, not much else to say about that. Definitely a fav.

Warpfire throwers do great when they happen to land their perfect scenario of shooting fire directly into someone's ass, but they're just not as consistently reliable as the typical Gunline + Artillery. And since you're getting Rattlings and Jezails early as Ikit there's just not much reason to invest in Warpfire throwers. Great for Queek though. But other Great Clans can typically invest in their specializations to get better results with other stuff

Sure, mortars are amazing against infantry blobs but they're kinda useless against single entities or monstrous infantry, they're not great against cavalry either unless there have been major changes since my last campaign. I love the unit (especially in sieges) and I take like a couple of them per army but ratling gunners & jezzails are the bread & butter choices that are effective against everything from unarmored infantry blobs to armored monsters and lords to flying units and just about everything that's coming at them head-on really. There's room in the army for multiple types of units.

I personally find Morathi the easiest DE, but I prefer Lokhir. He doesn't have many friends, but it's pretty fucking hard to actually lose his campaign.
Ikit and Snikch are both really fun. You'll probably only use Snikch's faction delete button once, but it's super fucking fun to see.
Tomb King rework made them feel so much better, and I don't really feel like the Vampirates actually capture the pirate feel very well. Noctilus is probably the closest, since you can fuck off wherever you want and you hardly ever have anyone threaten your home.

TWW3 nerfed jezzails and the targeting spread patch bugged ratling guns to fire OVER infantry (they're still really good against cav).

>TK update fixed most/all of the issues
I never really had any 'issues' with TK (and the ones I do have didn't get fixed), I just don't care much for their roster in TWW3 because their units I find the most fun to use (chariots and chariot SEs) are now better found in Kislev, Khorne, Slaneesh and maybe even Empire

Battles are over in this game way too fast. Can be a big campaign deciding battle and it ends in 5 minutes.

TK chariots are extremely strong (at least on Settra). I always have at least 3 chariots in all my armies because they fuck up all infantry

TK chariots still have an edge in being available much earlier and hits hard due to their increased number. IMO only slaanesh chariots are as good

Don't play vampirates, their mechanics are awful and power creep has not been kind to them. The only fun thing they have is Necrofex stacks.
