Yes but only because Fallout New Vegas exist, which is essentially just Fallout 3 (engine, assets, base mechanics) with a total conversion mod. Honestly, something about Fallout 3 rudimentary gameplay and shitty writting feels right to me, is clear that the goal was a jump from 2D to 3D just like GTA III was to GTA 2. Regarding the storyline, Bethesda writting always is in favor of gameplay diversity rather than complex or deep writting, everything is justified with the excuse of having "cool gameplay moments"

The Master was the final boss that could be reasoned with so you could use your wits to find a non-peaceful solution.
Horrigan was the the extreme polar opposite: a fanatical that couldn't be reasoned with and instead you had to use your wits to find a way to defeat him.

Both Autumn and Lanius were a mediocre middle ground that tried to eat its pie and have it too: they were depicted as no nonsense fanatics like Horrigan... that somehow could be talked down.

Part of the issue with NV was how broken it was on release and how absolutely fucking horribly it ran. Even now, if you're playing unmodded you have to walk on eggshells while playing the game because just fast traveling in the wrong place at the wrong time or entering the wrong door at the wrong time can break quite a few quests because of critical bugs that Obshitian never bothered to fix. Fuck, there's an entire perk that's made useless because of a simple typo that Obsidian never bothered to fix even though it would have been a simple matter of just correcting the typo.

The Enclave were mere remnants of a forward outpost after their main base was blown up by the Chosen One. The BOS and the NCR fought together against them.
The Mojave Chapter were a small part of the BOS that were defending a hard-to-defend solar power station against a mediocre semi-industrial army with much greater numbers. The main war in California is a stalemate.
The Fiends are using defensible ruins and a Vault as their base and they have energy weapons.
Service rifles are refurbished, not used straight away.
The NCR has at least one Vertibird. The NCR's main supply lines are diesel trains, not just caravans.
One of the advantages of guns is that they don't need much training.
The NCR's outposts do have supplies. What they lack is manpower.

As Fallout 4 fan I hate being lumped into the same category as Fallout 3 schizoids and Fallout 76 trannies. I'm playing FO4 for the first time right now with no mods and I'm having a good time. About 14 hours of fucking around, im level 19 and I havent even made it to Diamond City yet. Might go do the Minutemen castle quest finally since I've saved a bunch of settlements and done other quest at Bunker Hill and whatnot.

Are there any mods that DONT change the gameplay in crazy ways but add neat things to the game? I don't really want a bigass overhaul mod but maybe some quality of life or cosmetics.
