this game has so much ambition, but it's going to take years to become fully realized.
why are modders always so much faster than the game dev? this has been the case for minecraft.

With Minecraft they deliberately do as little as possible for the game not only because they're lazy and think the community can just get the mods they want for the game, but also they're afraid of changing the game too much too quickly and pissing off the fanbase.

A lot of it is Microsoft wants the game to stay relatively the same to keep the payed mod money from bedrock coming in

the early industrial stuff just kills the fun

VS's charm lies in high middle ages engineering inventions, steelmaking using 16-17th century techniques is going too far, steam power is just jumping the shark completely

>why are modders always so much faster than the game dev
Because modders are usually working on a singular thing, now consider there are hundreds of modders working on hundreds of singular things.
Now compare that to a small team working on hundreds of things at the same time.

would be pretty funny if microsoft just dumped a couple million to develop a vintage story like with autistic survival elements just to shit on it like reblivion did with skyblivion
dont think bill is petty enough though

modding is a hobby
developing is a job

one is about passion
the other is about a paycheck

the developer is a massive moron, the codebase is a mess and nobody gives a single shit about any of the story crap happening in the game yet he's doubling down on adding even more of it despite 99% of the community wanting him to expand on the survival and crafting aspect instead
expect the delays between updates to get even bigger as Tyron struggles to tardwrangle his neurotic wife

I just want actual cooking tools. I want an actual fucking oven, or something more permanent than some sticks on the ground with a pot hanging over it.

you are already basically a wizard in the medieval world if you have a trip hammer powered by a wind mill drive shaft. it doesn't have to jump the shark anon.

lets get water mills, and work on getting those water physics or a simulation of them into the game. water mills were THE engine of medieval engineering after human/animal and i think they are coming, same with salt making. all great directions to take the game without the shark jumping part.

>game about primitively technology/industry
>enemies are rusty creatures full of cogwheels as if to signify the advancement of technology will consume the pastural ideal
>the ancient advanced tech is indistinguishable from magic so nothing can ever really be explained sufficiently as it is absolute science fantasy
it feels like the story is so close to being something kino but somehow manages to present its self as some schizo ramble instead

Feels like it needs a proper director or project coordinator instead of
>I'll just put whatever I come up with into the game at this very moment and worry about it later
I will say its very brave for a tiny team to take on the absolute monolith that is Minecraft so I will commend them for that, even the other competitor couldn't get a working product out the door (Hytale)

idc about the story but in my mind its the analogue of medieval peasants rediscovering thought to be lost roman technology and philosophy at the end of dark ages and the start of the medieval reneissances and its kino
