GAA put me to sleep, and I'm a ridiculous AAfag, 1-4 I love.

I don't know why GAA just didn't click with me, I REALLY wanted to love it.

I really liked the second one because there was no filler but by the end of it I was a bit sad about leaving these characters. I finally saw the purpose of filler cases like turnabout big top, its to get some low intensity "slice of life" to understand the characters more. Though I don't think the full mystery was meaty enough to sustain a trilogy of games.
Anyway Ghost Trick is still better Takumi should make more games like that.

Why do people wear such weird shit in ace attorney? Is it not set in our world? Why is every other woman in a kimono or yukata you wouldn't see outside of a Japanese festival?
I get that it's "just the way they were designed" and "it's cute", but WHY? If there's no real explanation beyond "just because" then it's fucking retarded.

>I don't know why GAA just didn't click with me
It's the pacing, 100%.
Early AA will handle something like this
>prosecutor challenges your argument, crowd murmurs, two lines of text from assistant or inner thoughts intimating the sort of answer you're expected to give
>have to present something to answer a question
>Take That!
>judge asks what this means
>snark from prosecutor and/or witness
>[confident pose] lawyer explains briefly, presents second item to reinforce argument
And GAA will handle it like this
>[prosecutor plays out animation], indicates it can deflate your argument
>judge or lawyer asks what they mean
>prosecutor explains over several lines of text why the argument doesn't water, possibly playing out another animation
>lawyer is thrown back against the wall in disbelief, crowd murmurs against a slow pan (possibly a long slow pan with gallery remarks)
>assistant tells you to perk up and look at the evidence
>slowly pick up your head, inner monologue amounting to 'can I explain this?'
>select yes
>The defense...[zoom in] CAN prove it!
>extended b&w replay of previous scene(s) plays out (this will happen even if the conversation was two minutes ago) as argument is made
>[!] [!] [!] surprise from multiple jurors
>[another prosecutorial animation] Interesting, let's see it
>warning from the judge about a penalty, present your evidence!
>[lawyer takes deep breath, possibly slaps themselves] Yes, My Lord, the evidence is...
>present item
>[confident pose] and explanation
>judge and jury are confused (or not, but they'll interject anyway)
>prosecutor insists across several more text boxes that you need to reinforce this with other evidence
>[background fades, slow zoom on laywer] inner monologue from lawyer about how it's been building to this moment
>finally present connecting evidence

Yes, the characters are generally well-done, but the padding is ridiculous.

I'm surprised that some people find GAA boring because to me it was the only time in the entire expanded series that it felt like we got to the level of quality and intrigue of the original trilogy. It calls back to the original trilogy with a lot of similar if not the same themes and narrative devices but I thought it was compelling enough that I didn't matter.

I played GAA1 recently. I've never played AA beyond apollo justice so idk if 5 and 6 are like this, but it stuck out to me that the investigation sections are very simple and on-rails. Feels like watching one insanely long cutscene more than a game. I think the pacing in the trials is worse too because you get interrupted by the idiotic jury deciding to vote guilty and having to convince them otherwise with shit you already know

started gaa2 after since everyone says it's better but frankly was burnt out by then so it's on the backburner for now
