That sounds like a personal issue then. The game clearly wants the focus to be on papa Geralt doing his best rather than on politics or romance.

You could argue if they succeeded or miserably failed but that was clearly the whole point of the game. Personally i did care about Ciri and luckily got the best ending on my first playthrough due to my accurate fatherly decisions. I was really satisfied with the outcome as it meet my expectations to the dot.

And given the trailer of the new game i guess it´s also the canon ending.
