One of them discovered a prophecy that would kill them all, so they set out to find a way to stop it. Some turned to machinery, like Alain Guillotin, while others had more radical approaches for example, René wanted to turn all Fontainians into primordial goo, since then they couldn’t be swallowed by the waters.
René and Alain disagreed on their methods, which led Alain and his sister Mary-Ann to join the Marechaussee Phantom. Some time later, René was conducting experiments inside Elynas, and Mary-Ann and Alain were sent to stop him. Mary-Ann died in that conflict. Afterward, Alain went into recluse mode and hid away from society. There was evidence that something was built in his workshop, but no one knows what.
