8 core is the standard for PC gaming.
What games are even CPU bound these days? It feels like if you need to upgrade your CPU you're probably benefiting more from the motherboard upgrade including more up-to-date component options (like newer PCIe or RAM standards).
i have a 14700k and it works fine but im starting to think i dont even need all this power. i kind of want to get something that uses less power too...

WoW has millions of players as does FFXIV
Guild Wars 2 is still alive
Sega has their own MMORPG https://pso2.com/lp/
Riot the people behind League of Legends are making their own MMO too
Amazon one of the biggest companies on the planet is still publishing MMOs

The i9s under certain configurations were burning up, they later capped voltage and did some other stuff though microcode updates.
14700k would be a good upgrade if you can find a good deal.

this. ive had a 14700k since launch with zero issues. of course i updated the bios/microcode when it released but even before that its been smooth sailing. if i ever want to upgrade ill probably be forced to go amd as intel continues to kill itself

What. My R5 3600 shits the bed all the time. Was just playing Cronos and it stuttered to all fuck no matter what the settings were. UE5 rapes my CPU
>>719896230
I am not saying Cronos isn't making your R5 3600 shit itself but to be fair sometimes also UE5 games are just plain unsalvageable and stutter even on high end CPUs.
