What games are even CPU bound these days? It feels like if you need to upgrade your CPU you're probably benefiting more from the motherboard upgrade including more up-to-date component options (like newer PCIe or RAM standards).

The i9s under certain configurations were burning up, they later capped voltage and did some other stuff though microcode updates.
14700k would be a good upgrade if you can find a good deal.

this. ive had a 14700k since launch with zero issues. of course i updated the bios/microcode when it released but even before that its been smooth sailing. if i ever want to upgrade ill probably be forced to go amd as intel continues to kill itself
