they had the foundation of an already made game and were able to put something together that loosely was "SH2." they padded the shit out of it with both enemies and locales and yamaoka butchered some of his greatest tracks like Null Moon. A huge chunk of normgroids ate it up solely due to how accessible it was in terms of gameplay and actual access to the game.

No? I enjoyed their games for what they were, even though I acknowledge that they lean too heavily into onirism and pretty visuals and aren't scary enough to be called horror most of the time. The worldbuilding and story in The Observer were great, though.

SH2 remake ran like shit on my 4070. couldnt maintain even 60 FPS indoors at 1080p. as far as i know this happened with everyone and has never been fixed

this game didnt fare much better. didnt bother to try out a lot of settings but the only thing that will give me 60 fps on the same card is 1440p with DLSS on balanced and framegen. not that pretty of a game either, devs are incompetent

The Medium was considered financially successful despite reaching a Steam concurrent users max of only 2,800 and releasing for $40. Cronos released for $60 with a $70 premium edition and is at 4,200 concurrent users right now. Looks like they will not be selling to China any time soon.

Silent Hill 2 remake is their only good game because they didn't write it. I prefer the original, but 2R is good in its own way. It definitely has better gameplay. SH2 didn't need better gameplay, but it's a welcome addition for a side experience. The remake doesn't replace the original, nor would I ever recommend anyone play it before the original.

Cronos isn't ugly but the fixed perspective in The Medium seems to have helped the graphics stand the test of time.
