A major part of a "souls" game is the ambience and the european mysticism. The bleakness can only be conveyed through medieval dark ages and the recognizeable themes of famine, incarceration, starvation, corrupt societal systems and the general "knights and blades" thematic.
Bloodborne and Lies of P are a thing of their own altogether by that metric, but still adapt to it close enough that it can be realted to.

Things like Wuchang and Noih are a shitfest spam of pirouettes and SFX, silly yokai and spirit shit and a lot of extra streaks of nonsense that fundamentally shatter that atmosphere and gameplay in tandem.

I have big big autism. What I like about DS3 is that when u hit enemy (especially bosses) they react. The body is shaking. U can slap Dancer ass and it shakes. U hit that fucking tree boss, it shakes. Is there any soulslike like this? Tried DS1/DS2 and Lies of P but there's no shakinnessss....

Obviously Demon souls is more simple considering it was the first. It would be unfair to compare them to more modern titles that used it has an inspiration to begin with.
Dark souls 1 is very easy compared to literally everything else on the list, Dark souls 2 has the best atmosphere and has the best NG+ of any imo,
Dark souls 3 is a 'best off' compilation of past entries

So yes, i consider all 4 souls games basically a single entity.

Steelrising is fine, the only reason people hate it is the animation is a bit clunky. But you play as a mechanical doll, she's supposed to be a bit clunky, that's the style. People just didn't get that. Also it came out before Lies of Pee and basically both of those are BB clones
LotF23 hate is a complete mystery to me. Maybe on launch it was broken but when I played it, it was perfectly fine. Uninspired but fine, good enough to beat
AI Limit has great level design. I mostly play those games for dungeon crawling and crawling in that game was super satisfying. Bosses sucked though.
