Horror games for cowards
Fellas, I am a giant pussy, specifically about jumpscares
Other kinds of horror make me feel nothing, but merely having the knowledge that a jumpscare can happen at some point makes the suspense and dread so powerful I can't bear to continue from sheer paranoia
Is there a list of "babby's first" jumpscare horror games to build tolerance?

Play Darkwood. No jumpscares, just pure dread
Even though the game is made by people who hate horror games, it's still some of the best out there

Tried playing pizzeria sim since people said it's not scary and it's free
I didn't buy anything and threw out all the animatronics, just to get used to it with no threat
Still got jumpscared by Scrap Baby on night 2 somehow, just when I thought I was safe
Uninstalled immediately after

How about Resident Evil games? The pre-RE4 games are proper horror games

F.E.A.R.
Because not only are all of the spooky segments extremely telegraphed, you spend the rest of the time blasting people.

Try Outlast Trials? It has jumpscares but honestly you'll be so used to it since the levels are predictable with a little bit of randomization on enemy locations so you won't really get surprised by an enemy popping up out of nowhere.

CAYNE is free and a taste of the kind of horror you'll see in the first game STASIS and the sequels Beautiful Desolation and STASIS Bone Totem.

Otherwise for baby first horror I'd rattle off a long list of freeware but... a lot of sites (and flash games) I'd reference are now dead so here's a little variety.

Darkwood is a pretty easy recommend since it's a great horror experience that never hits you with an epic jumpscare while still keeping everything tense. If you'd like to completely inoculate yourself though to
>LOUD NOISE SCARY

Play a couple rounds of the horror kusoge of kusoges DEVOUR and you'll never be affected the same way by a jumpscare ever again. All your gay babby jumpscare anxiety will be permanently blown out of your skull with the shrill shriek of a 100000decibel ps3 model screaming in your face ad nauseam

>>719899296
>Outlast Trials
This and any other forms of coop horror as well are safe picks. Trials is also pretty fun with friends, moreso if you use local mic

RPGMaker and a few others aren't though, or at least not in ways that make it easier to sift through because you can't easily search by genre anymore or engine or even completion.
>flash games
Cube Escape series (some jumpscare but not always) - paid collection on Steam but still free on android.
Can You Escape Love series (android versions have gotten fucked up).
Alice is Dead - more weird and fucked up than horror, Cheshire aside.
Don't Escape series - a few have gone paid, dev also made the Deep Sleep series.
KOLM series might count as horror-lite but its pretty much just a Metroidvania with an interesting plot.
Submachine is creepy at times but mostly you're just vibing and going around. Daymare series by the dev is a bit more overt in the creepy vibes.
Dev who made Infectonator series also has a necromancer-themed one that could count.
There's also the butterfly? series of P&C Puzzle games. Plot was less Horror and more WTF.

Oh. OH. There's that Japanese Panda Bastard series. Dev is Detarou. I still don't remember half the plot of the P&C / escape series as its more surreal than horror but the Panda is a fucking bastard.

Omori has a single jumpscare near the beginning, and any other horror elements are in the endgame.
And besides that, it's just a very well made game, highly recommended.

I fucked up and never crafted an axe before going to the swamp. That mistake made me feel so bad, I have yet to start a new run. Just having to adapt to the spawns on a save fills me with dread, that's how good this game is. I'll do it this October.

They are visual novels with a slight point and click shine to them, but Spirit Hunter 1-3
Creepy VNs with jump scares that work (as I am not a jumpscare enjoyer) but you can turn them off if you're a complete pussy. Horror VNs are far and few between and this one has a great cast, a great story, and a wonderful juxtaposition between comfy and frightening that works.
I would laugh a lot when I got spooked because though I would get used to the jump scares (they are not overused or anything) sometimes they would still 'get' me and I found that enjoyable.

Pick up Bendy.
First game has zero jumpscares, and the only enemy who jumpscares you in the second game gives you a warning and chance to hide so you can avoid them.
The series is mostly eerie environments and storytelling so it might be right up your alley.
