i fell out of love with playing them when gen 4 came out, then again when gen 7 came out.
but recently i've been playing them a lot with retroachievements. i'm up to gen 3 now building my battle frontier team and hunting legendaries.
gen 1 was easy but fun to mess with glitches
gen 2 was harder due to the battle tower (they used shit like Zapdos against me)
gen 3 is really intimidating with the battle frontier, but my team isn't even done yet
if you don't feel like doing that, there's always stuff like nuzlockes or competitive
