and no, i don't mean "quirky dude who dyes their hair wacky colors and wears cool clothes" ala the general perception of, say ramona flowers, i mean like,“quirky flawless fella that often shows up to make things happen to sad-sack protags that teaches them how to live again” ala kirsten dunst in elizabethtown or natalie portman in garden state

(actually a better comparision might be zooey deschaniel's character in 500 days of summer if i were to be real about this)

I never really thought about it but yeah, that description is pretty accurate. At least in any game with a companion character, easily.
It's an easy way to right him into stories since by himself he's very much reactive instead of proactive.
