Honestly I'd be more worried about the Crazy Taxi game. They made a public call to bring in more developers with experience making these kinds of games to help make it into a reality, which by itself isn't bad, but that was like months after the reveal. Look I can replay Ninja Gaiden but I will kill someone if I have to replay the PS2 Shinobi game. I can understand why people prefer Street Fighter over Virtua Fighter. I can understand why even in its rotted state Final Fantasy is more popular than Persona and yes don't be lying about Persona because otherwise I will use Square Enix's bigger trump card Dragon Quest against you.

Sega's properties aren't that great. And Sega has a huge history of allowing the talent to fizzle away. Many of their series died like that. The people who made the recent Streets of Rage or Shinobi aren't even Sega employees for crying out loud. Sega allows its teams to simply rot away and leave the company and since Sega shows no interest in maintaining a balanced amount of breathing life in its properties it really damages their catalogue.

In that regard Capcom manages better. Look at the recent Ghost and Goblins its made by the actual creator of the series. And even recently Capcom made an agreement to make Okami 2 with its original creator Hideki Kamiya. And even Konami said they are open to collaborating with Hideo Kojima for new ideas. Sega? Nothing.

Sega fucks up because they don't care enough. That's about it. They really don't care enough. And the day Sonic starts to really fail Sega will lose their recognizable status in the industry. At that point they will probably be sold if they start floundering too much for Sammy Corp to keep around.

We don't need to wait very long. Sonic Movie 3 had Shadow the Hedgehog and he LOST against Disney's Mufasa. An unwanted fan fiction prequel defeated Shadow the Hedgehog. Come to think of it Disney's Sonic aka Lilo and Stitch Remake also did real good much better than multiple Sonic Movies combined. Sonic's brand is not as powerful as you may think.

And Sonic Frontiers selling well is a fluke. And even then its sales aren't all that.
