I know the difference between edgy and serious. I thought it was good science fiction. Better than the ill fitting racism metaphor they went with in the final product.

Getting back to the subject of the Little Tail series. I liked Sola for being a relatively serious story starring anthros. I just wished it didn't have to knee cap all of its violence by saying "they didn't actually die though" like a saturday morning cartoon from the 90s. I wanted the violence to have consequences to make things feel less cheap.

Also, who's Piroshi?

I forgot to mention I was talking about Solatorobo in last paragraph. I meant that when I played Sola, what I wanted was for the game to quit cheapening its violence with "I'll get you next time". Fuga fixed that problem by making all the deaths for real, which I thought was a major improvement.

I just think it over corrected and made the whole game to drab and somber. They stripped out most of the fantastic elements in favor of a ww2 allegory with the played out "war is bad" message that every "thoughtful" anime has been doing since the 70s.

I think the game would've done better as an airship game instead of a tank game. That way they could still have the beautiful sky islands and varied scenery the series was known for, rather than making it all set on the ground in French wheat fields.

Maybe wait for CC2 to go bankrupt so they'll be on sale?

Jokes aside, I want to take them from abusive father, but I ain't a saint either. My idea for the ending (so it doesn't need hidden child) involves all of them literally dying, but in a less gruesome way.

Fair enough. I actually don't mind ww2 as a setting, I just hate when it gets all emotional and thoughtful, because then it inevitably becomes a soapbox for the author to preach the incredibly bold and original message that the holocaust was bad. I like stuff that focuses more on the badassery of ww2 like CoD WaW. Ww2 + heavy metal is something I basically always enjoy.

Ww2 depression with a side of "nazis bad" is something I do not like though. If we're going for depression stuff, I think WW1 or a particularly brutal civil war like the Bosnian conflict, Russian Civil War, or American Civil war are a more entertaining source to draw from.

There are plenty of external conflicts to draw from. Ww2 has just been done to death. The Napoleonic wars are pretty underutilized in games, and this series, with its French inspired setting, is uniquely suited to cover it.

I'd love to see a game set in that war between the Felineko and Caninu in Shepherd where robos were first used. Though I don't know if that exists anymore in the post Fuga timeline.

rereading the lore in game, 611 years prior to the events of Sola, an empire of Felineko called Abyssina was conquering and oppressing a bunch of Caninu tribes. They started a war against the Shepherd Kingdom and looked like they were going to conquer it until the Caninu invented robos, and turned the thing into a stomp (pun very much intended) for the Shepherd Kingdom. The whole series of wars lasted 100 years Shepherd conquered the Felineko and oppressed them in kind for the following 400 years. Then the Felineko had a revolution and founded the Abyssina Federation, and using the chaos as an opportunity, disaffected Caninu in Shepherd had their own revolution, deposed the king, and established the Shepherd Republic. A few years later, there was a war called the Incantation War, which was fought between Felineko wizards and Caninu mech pilots (and has some sick ass art that I can't share because I can't screenshot real hardware), followed by a second incantation war 50 years after that. During that conflict, Shepherd had a Napoleon figure arise, who turned the tide in favor of the Caninu until he died, at which point a cease fire was signed.

Now can you tell me if that fits with the Fuga lore?
Anonymous No.719944063 >>719947001
>>719943873
Oh yeah, and this lore isn't from the lore pages, its from dialogue, but prior to using robos, the Caninu rode bugs and were basically just primitive tribals. That seems to strongly contradict all the air ships and tanks and Fuga, because Sola implies that they went straight from riding animals to piloting robos, completely skipping any kind of middle stages like cars or tanks.

A shame they can't seem to learn how to do decent combat in their action games. The .Hack series, Asura's Wrath, and Tail Concerto/Solatorobo could have really benefit from having someone who knows how to make the simple act of attacking enemies fun, rather than stiff and mashy.

No, they had quite a lot of 3d elements too. Look at a level like Basset or Pharoah. Just as many 3d elements as 2d ones, and mixed in such a way that you can't tell them apart without really looking. The combat areas looked nice too, like the ship levels or the dungeons in Basset.

Even if you still want to scoff at that and say its not impressive technically, its still impressive artistically, and well beyond what they can afford to do now. Just look at how many cost cutting measures they had to pull with the graphics in Fuga.
