I always felt the characters were written for something like a sports series. They're one note stereotypes and everyone has rivals and themed teams, but no one dies. Everyone just bickers, betrays each other and fights but then walks away shaking their fist going "well I'll get you next time!"

god, the load time difference with online features on and off is absurd.
Everything is damn near instant and the elevators also almost open as soon as you load in if you turn it off. and if it's on it takes like a minute. Doing coliseum battles earlier was painful.
What the fuck is the game trying to communicate each time?
Even just turning crossplay off doesn't make much of a difference.
It was better earlier though. so i guess more people woke up and play now?

Otherwise i am having a good time. just got the card game unlocked. it's no triple triad but i like it.

It will probably get fixed considering how bad it is. The demo didn't have any issues with online. Loading in all the dead players wasn't a problem either.

There's maybe like 30 seconds of either loading or just communication with online features before the door opens. I guess technically true, but he's obviously trying to make it sound worse than it is.

Compared to the first game, the characters barely say anything.

Just started a bit ago. Was dumb and spent like an hour trying to beat the centurion at the start only to find out he can't lose his last hit point regardless it seems fine so far on my mid-rig PC. Loading times taking a bit longer than I'd like and flying is kinda unwieldy to control but other than that it's scratching that power armor fantasy I didn't know I had

It's not subjective over "the characters never stop talking" when playing the first game compared to this, the characters really never fucking stopped talking. I set the voice volume to zero in my playthrough because they just kept shouting the same voicelines and skipped all the text box segments because the writing was awful.

The first game was basically holding you down and waterboarding you with nonstop shitty dialogue, this isn't anywhere near it. You could probably time it lol

OK, I got this game for free on EGS ages ago but never played it despite hearing OK things about it, now I'm hearing it's complete shit from everyone

I'm not someone who's big into the mech genre, but I do think they are pretty cool and enjoyed stuff like Zone of the Enders and Mechwarrior 2 when I was younger, so is this game just being shit on for not being a hardcore enough mech game or something? I'm just so confused, it feels like the discussion about this game tells me nothing about it because each side is such a polar opposite that it's impossible to find the middle ground

It's not like it's totally shit with no redeeming qualities. It just advertised itself as "the return of armored core, made by real armored core veterans!" and then it was very flawed and didn't have the same tone at all. It'd have been better off just presenting itself as something new with its own qualities. It still had a lot of flaws though. The character writing really just is that annoying.

Imagine mechwarrior 6 and everyone is talking like a shonen archetype and you have to fight the four heavenly kings, and everyone keeps doing the "it's just like that day... no, I shouldn't say..." kind of twist teasing.
