I think I went with Gary sometimes and with blue in others. My last playthrough over 2 decades ago with a blasting and vaporean, I can't remember. I have never caught all the Gen 1 Pokémon since the only person that played was a douchbag that held my vaporeon hostage for a caterpie. A pox on his house.

Did anyone pick Jack or John? I always thought those stood out next to the canon and the names the anime picked.

And alternate hardcoded names continued for the first few generations. Did anyone do the same up through the DS games?

(I always picked a version of my name and named my rival something belittling)

I named rivals after my friends when I was a kid but now just name them mildly rude names like "Dingus". Except GSC since someone told me they originally thought Silver was a girl so now I always call the GSC rival a girl's name and headcanon that she's a reverse trap.

Professor Oak is a singular entity across every single Pokemon save file. Professor Oak is not aware of it himself but every single Grandson that players give a name to become the truth, therefore every name that you input is correct.
