I got a Pico 4 about 2 months ago for 300€
Hurts the bridge of my nose because otherwise I can't see the lower part
Bought more accessories for it than I would have hoped
Not high res enough to make virtual desktop comfortable to use for an extended period of time
Some non-VR games through VD run like fucking shit, like frame pacing is all over the place no matter the bitrate (weirdly enough VR games work fantastic)
My hair is not pristine at all times (this shit is making me wish I was bald, the strap at the top doesn't help) so I have to always take the headset off the right way or else the lenses get all muddy
Sensitivity for controller motion is different between different pieces of software, sometimes it's like I have parkinsons, sometimes it feels laggy
End up only using it for porn and even that is a bit tricky, I have to go into a specific russian website for good torrents
VR is not bad but obviously without great hardware I'm not having a great time. But I'm not spending what, 1600€ on a fucking bigscreen beyond 2? Jesus christ

UEVR for ace combat is fine, since it doesn't need special controls for immersion
but any fps will feel weird if you can't interact with the world or items the way you can in proper VR games

I think VR will get a decent boost if deckard doesn't end up being a shit, one of the goals is allowing the steam library to be playable in VR virtual screens

Well that problem exists but the MQ3 has a lot of aftermarket accessories and a new head strap is obligatory. With a halo strap you won't feel the weight of the headset in your face. This is an essential accessory for a VR headset desu

I got a meta quest 3 yesterday and still can't decide if I want to play beat sabers, synth riders, pistol whip or ragnarock

Ragnarock was the best one so far but it is so autistic about the accuracy. I hit the drums on-rhythm and it still bitches I was not accurate enough. Hitting it perfectly is entirely a matter of luck so far

Have you played The Lab, a lot of people skip it because it's like a tutorial game. But it's actually very neat
Also Lone Echo 1-2, the gameplay is simple but it's very immersive and gorgeous looking. Really feels like you're floating in space, zero G stuff feels so natural, you can push off from any surface and float away
Also Mare, not immersive or complex but if you like Ico it's very cool to experience.

UE4 is great in VR if you have a powerful enough PC (4070 and higher). What sucks is how UE5 needs mostly a fucking 5090 or future GPUs

I'd like VR to continue advancing but I'm struggling to envision how it's gonna survive desu. The reason I even considered getting back into it is more because of modding non-VR games than actual new games being developed for VR. Devs have been moaning about high dev cost and low return for forever and that hasn't seemed to improve. Any substantial technical improvement incurs big costs which seems like a bad idea when even the future of consoles is starting to look increasingly uncertain. Things have been tough before but what economy will be left for VR development in the coming years?

HOW the FUCK do i disable the goddamn cocksuckin automatic updates for the HMD itself?? i have developer mode enabled and everything but the goddamn thing ALWAYS gets updates ready then if you shut it down and reboot it it still automatically installs the damn updates eventually after a few weeks or even a few months, even if you say do NOT update in settings.

I tried quest 3 at my friend's place, and while I enjoyed shooting games quite a bit, what bothered me is that re4 which was running on the quest hardware worked without any issues, but streaming Into the Radius from PC via wifi made the image quality way worse and I could feel gagging building up a bit. Would using a cable fix this?

Cable still uses compression. When you use cable, imagine it's literally a wired ethernet because iirc that's what it is for most practical purposes. It'll surely help if your router is trash, but if you have a decent router, the difference between cable and wireless shouldn't be too dramatic. You can also use any decent USB-C cable for it if you want to test it, you don't need oculus link specifically.

It'll never feel like an Index, but from my limited Quest PCVR experience, it can run moderately alright, definitely good enough to have fun as long as game isn't too fast and dynamic. Image quality can be really okay, it's just that you'll always feel like your body kinda lags behind your movements ever so slightly.

well first you'd need to learn all the bottlenecks you're having with streaming
a cable would lock you to the meta software and while it would let you push higher bitrate the resolution is capped
so first troubleshoot if the game is running bad, if your settings for the streamers are bad, if you accidentally set higher resolution than needed and if TAA is one ( very blurry )

if you're using steamlink even at max resolution it will be very low
if you're on oculus the default air link settings were fucked and non working for me so navigate to Program Files\Oculus\Support\oculus-diagnostics, run OculusDebugTool and here my settings (pic)
in the actual meta link APP you set the render resolution to the highest you can (only drop if you're on an older nvidia card with a mediocre encoding video chip), set the framerate to 72hz first and see if the game runs alright with that

now basically the better your wifi link is the higher you can push the bitrate with I would say upper bounds of around 300mbps on really good wifi 6E and the cable lets you push it to around 500-800 but you have to keep in that mind you're getting fucked by the streaming software first and foremost and theres a learning curve to learning all that shit

that's why people always recommend virtual desktop for everything because it's just that easy to use and when slapped on with a basic router you get 99% of the way there with little issues
