Why did Kojima face-scan random directors to “star” in his video games?

It's a way to show deference and make contacts within the industry.
Like many other gaming industry guys, Kojima always wanted to be a movie director instead of a shitty game maker.

I think the people he choose for mocap all fit really well into the game, gameplay itself and story and dog shit, but I have no complains about his mocap technique and actors he choose for the character roles
