i think it's little shelves you can pick up to move your whole squad of figure guys at once? they do look a little out of place maybe that's the problem, if they were entirely glass it would probably be cool though

It's funny that the figurines are so intricately detailed but the terrain is just a mat. So WH fans ever make environments like war gamers do?

It's a tabletop war game, the little dividers are supposed to be cover/things you have to move around. It's not apparent if you haven't played because they look so cheap. These players haven't invested in better props which I don't blame them, most tabletops are expensive. If they're using the most sanitized version because they're all autists that whine over obscure distances, then they're annoying nerds.

I think that's the "outrage" OP is trying to farm.
Those clear things are probably meant to replace terrain so that you have a better view of the battlefield.
for those not in the know, those plastic bits are terrain, which block line-of-sight for the models. they're made clear plastic here to allow both sides to see exactly what is where, even if their models can't see them.
