He's fit as fuck, done all kinds of extreme sports before and had lots of practice on gun range
He has everything the action movie protagonist needs, he just never planned to become one

but you cant become a monster killer in a guerilla war fighting in the jungle against locals who know the land better, because the guys fit and goes to the gun range, killing someone in a fire fight is a world's difference away from calmy firing at a standing cardboard target amongst friends. It doesn't make sense.

He was literally in the 0.1% of Human excellence in terms of fitness, bravery and cunning. Like >>719952952 said, he had all the prerequisites to be an Action Hero.

>>719953060
He's fighting against bumfuck natives, the average of the Human population, who are coerced into war and not naturally born warriors.

Far cry and Jason's story as a whole is a take on man's inner warrior spirit, how every regular dude you see day to day life could be molded into a cornered animal comfortable enough and ready to kill, how the average man can be a trained killer with trauma and stress as the motivator
Every dude you see, the fat nerd behind the counters, the beefed blokes at the gym, the twig thin manlets going about their day? They all have the same untapped ability to become Jason, to dominate and kill as warriors and feel the euphoric rush of it all. But modern society has neutered the modern man, literally as well, so these warrior spirits manifest in the wrong ways like random spree shootings, not properly tuned and honed, we're all ticking time bombs deep inside, just asleep.

You forgot to mention the copious amounts of drugs he takes to achieve it, plus how it's a slow progression throughout the game, not just a switch that flips. Jason is easily the best far cry protag, and arguably one of the best vidya protags in general.

Far Cry 3 was fun and kino and the last time the franchise felt original and I'm tired of people pretending it wasn't. Yes, it introduced mechanics that Ubisoft became infamous for-but they were fun and fine at the time.

The only other Far Cry game after that I remotely enjoyed was Far Cry 5, mostly because many of the characters were fun and memorable and it did feel like I was playing through a cool modern American Civil War.

The only thing unbelievable about Jason is how he's able to effectively reload all those Soviet and other shitty rusty guns the pirates have like a military soldier. Even if we assume he had some training it's unlikely he'd have access to EVERY gun he came across on those islands.

The rest? Perfectly fine. As >>719953751 said, you don't start out super skilled. You have to unlock skills like skinning animals, takedowns, etc. Even within the "gameplay logic" it makes sense, so if we go with "it's just a videogame" it's reasonable to assume every time you unlock a skill Jason technically would learn this shit IRL, with his friendly natives.

And what >>719953000 said is also true. Most of the people he's up against are bumbling retards who probably don't even want to be there. He's not fighting Tier 1 Navy Seals teams for most of the game.

We all understand there's zero chance Jason has a good life in leaving the island right? He doesn't die at least but no fucking way is his girlfriend staying with him after he held a knife to her throat, plus trauma and all that. Jason likely dropped off the grid after failing to reintegrate into society then lived as a hobo or on the streets till a lonely death. Doesn't matter if he uses his skills as a mercenary or whatever to make good money, without a support structure he won't make it far, his friends were his support pre island, citra was his support on the island as well, since he has nothing now it'll only be a matter of time before killing isn't enough anymore and he kills himself

I think most people agree with that. FC3 is still remembered fondly. It's like with AssCreed, most people agree it started off strong but Ubisoft's pathological need to turn things into formulas is what killed it. FC3 was well received the series is "normal guy goes up against charismatic villain in some exotic location"
Heard good things about 5 but I lost all interest in Ubisoft to try it out for myself.

The bad ending where he stays on the island only to be killed feels like the only real end. The multiple choice was just because every game at the time seemed mandated by law to have one.

does anyone else hate the hoyt fight? not because of the fight itself but because of the set up, that whole part pissed me off, I was waiting for a cool scene or section where we kill all of hoyts bodyguards THEN we kill Hoyt but nope it instantly cuts to a 1 on 1 knife fight. Hoyt was fucking surrounded by several dudes with guns WHERE DID THEY GO????

I felt the same about RE7. Ethan chosing to save Zoe makes very little sense. Mia is the reason he's there in the first place.

Pirate it if you fancy it. Characters are good and memorable, exploring is fun, and despite what it seems the game doesn't take itself too seriously the whole time; plenty of actual fun and funny writing for you to have a bit of levity.

There's a couple in the game who run an old airfield and befriending them+working with them is actually a really nice storyline, gets you invested. Plus the exploration unlocks new clothes for customisation and so on, so you can be
>tacticool soldier
>hillbilly retard
>gun slinging sheriff

Translation: Even in OP's wildest, most free and unhinged fantasies he cannot see himself overcoming his loser self and becoming a champion.
He finds the very idea ludicrous and unhinged, an antithesis to reality as it is.
OP must instead skinwalk into the feet of someone else, a real man, who was born proficient and skilled in ways he could never achieve.
It truly is sad. A loser in his own dreams, his reality a nightmare he cannot wake from.

It's not the 50s anymore, grandpa. Most guys who shoot don’t just do target practice. There’s a reason law enforcement agencies have been training more and more with competition shooters in recent years.
