Pretty sure the post is addressing the fact that if you ever must make a preset main character in an action game for some reason, you don't choose a fossilized old man with the personality of a sun dried tomato. I've noticed a certain hype cycle around indie where there are no standards, everything can be hyped where you're supposed to buy "bundles" that's justified by them being "cheap" inviting a consumerism and I left the scene hard because they wanted you to buy whatever and that's why I wouldn't normally even know about this game. That said, it's different this time. I think this might actually be an engaging platformer, even annoyed some redditors. I'm not being tricked by the shills, it is a legitimate good game.

The amount of soul and craft that went into HiS art direction is astounding. The level design, atmosphere, audio, environmental storytelling, attention to details, item graphic design... all top tier. No, the art direction is not astounding. It's cookie cutter artstation fodder you can literally scrounge up in any search for concept art. They really did not try particularly hard to make something outstanding.
They went with whatever was the least effort invested to tell their story. Which is probably what they wanted to do, make a movie or a book. Definitely not a game.

I preordered E33. These are just not my kind of games. I also played the Hell Is Us demo and didn't like it that much. I may check it out after all the patches are out, but not for the full price.

Chronos is a horror game I don't like horror games.

I am interested in He is Us and Cronos and have them Wishlisted, but not at release, since 70€ is not "reasonably priced". I played the He is Us Demo and was positively surprised, I don't know much about Cronos other than it was made by the studio that made the Silent Hill Demake and features a fully covered up female protagonist, which are already two demerits, but might give it a try when it's cheaper, if I hear good things.

Other than that, I just have too many games I want to play and too little time, and entertainment time is shared with Movies, TV and Animu. I still haven't finished Stellar Blade or Shadows of the Damned, which I bought on release. I've also been playing a bunch of Demos and it's almost SteamFest time again next month. Also played smaller games like I Have No Mouth, Driftland, Breeathedge and Marvel Rivals for PvP every now and again. Also bought a bunch of games like Sherlock Holmes The Awakened, Lamplight City, Unforeseen Incidents, Punch Club 2, DMC HD Collection, Lords of the Fallen and various others on Sale and haven't even started with them yet.

I have zero clue who was expecting Code Vein, that is probably the most far out comparison and I don't know where you're getting that from. Game-play doesn't look like SB either. It started as a project that was inspired by Versus 13. It's basically just an action FF game that has combat with some DMC influence.

I am in the section after meeting Seleria the first time. The combat is pretty decent and the bosses are OK so far too but literally everything else ranges from mediocre to bad. Also, since the story is pretty garbage it really annoys me that the game auto pauses cutscenes when you alt-tab.

The combat continues to get better as you fill out each tree and get more weapons. I wouldn't say everything else is bad though. The story is nothing groundbreaking but I think the characters are likeable enough and it's still tolerable. It's an action game at it's core though and the combat is really what I'm playing it for.
