The Nintendium mines ran out somewhere around the release of the GBA SP unfortunately.

they're lithium batteries. It's not about storing, you fucking retard. They are prone to bloating from lack of use and letting the battery drain. The quality control on the PSP battery especially just has poor quality control, which is why you hear about it so much, while you rarely hear about it for DS line and such

>I stored my 3ds in my car
Reddit is full of shit like this. They regularly post images of their old pets that get mummified because they let them fall behind furniture. They regularly post shit they've refused to repair that now has a dent in it from being walked on. They'll post plenty of lost objects that have fused with something or been warped. They then will consider it "mildly infuriating" like it was something out of their control. They are like bad children.

This actually happened to me 2 weeks ago. I grabbed my OoT limited edition 3DS and opened it to find out the enamel on the buttons had cracked and started chipping, got really dejected. Then saw the analog stick had some shiny residue like how ps2 controllers sometimes have when you haven't used em in a while, and I tried to rub it off, and with the slightest touch, the analog nub just fucking disintegrated.
Really sad...
Thankfully both the enamel buttons and the analog nub are easily replaceable, so I was able to fix it, but man does it hurt to see that.

I had the same thing happen to my launch 3ds and small N3DS. I ended up having to scour Aliexpress for replacements and eventually found some that glide smoothly and feel OEM.
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803396902772.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.279.2d671802iRRtKT&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

I also found some glass screen replacements for the top screen to get rid of some scratches that had accumulated. You just heat up the edges of the top screen with a hair dryer and yank out the plastic with a suction cup.

I'm really happy with the glass, it makes the colors look more saturated.

There was something fucky going on with the rubber they used for controllers in the early 2010s. My 3DS's nub completely wore off, admittedly after hundreds of hours of use, and my launch PS4's dualshock flaked off completely within literal days of me getting it.

My 3DS's circle pad is as good as new. However, the control stick on my gamecube controllers came off years ago. Now, to be fair, my DS is in a case in my closet, while my gamecube controllers were kept in the open, so maybe that's the difference.
