Why play a game about fishing instead of just going outside and doing it?
What's with this replacement of menial, easy-to-do activities in video games? What's next? Dish-washing game? Gym workout game? Hooking yourself up to a pleasure machine and playing your own life?

Pretty closed-minded way of looking at it to be honest, friendo.
A fair bit of people in the world don't have access to unlock fishing IRL. The gear and license cost is one thing, and then also consider being land-locked and not near any body of water. How are you going to go fishing in a place like the middle of the desert in Australia? If I lived there, I'd play this.
And don't shit on fishing either- it's a hobby sure, but it takes a certain amount of skill and knowledge. Like what baits to use where. You're not going to catch anything if you're using shrimp bait in fresh water, for example.
